FAQs

How does the Natural Night Filter enhance night photography?

The Natural Night Filter is specifically designed to block unwanted wavelengths of light pollution commonly emitted by streetlights and other artificial sources. By filtering out these pollutants, it helps your camera sensor capture more accurate colours and details in the night sky, resulting in clearer and more vibrant astrophotography images. This filter is particularly effective in urban environments where light pollution is prevalent.

What is the purpose of the Star Soft Filter in astrophotography?

The Star Soft Filter makes stars appear larger and enhances the sparkle of constellations in your night sky images. This is achieved by creating a soft glow around brighter stars without adding any colour cast or loss of light. The filter is designed to maintain a clear lower section, allowing for creative flexibility in placement and enabling photographers to enhance the stars while keeping the foreground unaffected.

Can I use the NiSi V7 Holder with other brands of filters?

Yes, the NiSi V7 Holder is compatible with any 100mm wide and 2mm thick filters from other brands, as long as they fit the holder's design specifications. This flexibility allows you to expand your filter options and use different types of filters for various photographic needs, including graduated and neutral density filters.

What advantages does the True Color Circular Polarizer (CPL) have over traditional CPL filters?

The True Color Circular Polarizer features NiSi's proprietary Pro Nano Coating, which significantly reduces reflections and provides a waterproof, oil-resistant layer. This coating makes it easier to clean the filter, reducing the chance of scratches and smudges. Additionally, the True Color CPL is designed to prevent the yellow cast that is often associated with traditional CPL filters, ensuring a more accurate colour rendition in your images.

How do I properly set up and use the NiSi V7 Filter Holder?

To set up the NiSi V7 Filter Holder, first attach the appropriate adapter ring to your lens. Then, slide the filter holder onto the adapter until it clicks into place. You can insert up to three filters into the holder, adjusting their positions as needed. The unique pull-and-release locking pin allows for easy rotation of the holder, and you can lock it in place to prevent any unwanted movement during shooting.

What is the maximum width of lenses that can be used with the NiSi V7 Holder?

The NiSi V7 Holder can accept lenses with a maximum front filter thread size of 82mm directly. For lenses with larger diameters, step-up rings are available separately, allowing you to adapt the holder for use with lenses that have 86mm or 95mm front filter threads. However, please note that using these larger step-up rings will not accommodate a NiSi 86mm circular polarizer filter.

Is the NiSi Caddy Filter Pouch suitable for storage and transport of other filters?

Yes, the NiSi Caddy Filter Pouch is designed to hold a combination of NiSi 100mm filters and can also accommodate other brands of similar size. It features a durable and lightweight design, ensuring that your filters are protected from scratches. The pouch's adjustable strap and versatile carrying options make it convenient for both storage and transport during photography outings.
