Sony Cinema Line FX3A with FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM II Lens

With a compact design for solo shooters, travel applications, or as an ideal B camera, the Sony FX3A borrows from both the Cinema Line and Alpha series of cameras to create an optimised portable cinema camera. Firmware Update v2.00

Firmware update v2.00 provides multiple features, including the BIG6 home screen, where you can easily review shooting settings and equipment configurations, 1.5x and 1.6x magnifications in the De-Squeeze Display, support for the Focus Magnifier and Auto Magnifier in MF settings while using the Bright Monitoring feature, and raw video output via HDMI that enables external recording of Blackmagic Raw. This update also enables the camera to automatically recognise a separate USB-LAN conversion adapter, filter camera images for smartphone and FTP transfers, and record in the metadata the optical density of pre-registered ND filters.

Expressive UHD 4K Video Capture

The FX3A's 12.1MP Exmor R BSI CMOS sensor (10.2MP effective in video mode) is paired with a BIONZ XR processor to achieve UHD 4K video capture with internal 10-bit 4:2:2 sampling or 16-bit raw output. The sensor's BSI design heightens clarity and sensitivity, with an expandable ISO 80-409,600 range and a greater-than-15-stop dynamic range for working in mixed lighting conditions. Benefiting colour and tonal control, the S-Cinetone mode can be used for matching to VENICE, FX9, or FX6 sources, and there is also S-Log3/2 gamut support and 10-bit HLG for simple HDR productions. The sensor and processor also work together to greatly reduce rolling shutter, and the sensor's design incorporates a Fast Hybrid AF system for intelligent and quick focusing performance and subject tracking.

4K Full-Frame CMOS Exmor R Sensor

A 12.1MP Exmor R sensor and BIONZ XR processor offer the FX3A true cinematic expression with 10.2MP effective video and 12.1MP still capture. The full-frame sensor provides shallow depth of field looks, impressive bokeh, and reduced rolling shutter artifacts. A base sensitivity of 80-102,400 expands to a lofty 409,600 for impressive low-light capture, and 15+ stops of dynamic range reproduce the nuances of both spectacular exteriors and carefully lit interior scenes with plenty of allowance for colour grading.

Beautiful skin tone reproduction and a softer-toned look that complements your VENICE, FX9, or FX6 footage are created using the FX3A's default S-Cinetone colour setting. S-Log-3, S-Gamut3, S-Gamut3.Cine, and 10-bit 4:2:2 support help maintain rich gradation and colour matching with the range of Sony Cinema Line cameras, while HLG HDR provides the option of direct HLG playback without the need for grading.

Video Recording

Capture sharp, detailed images at rates up to 4K 120p with up to 5x slow motion at 24p output. Recording options include the ability to output DCI 4K+ in 16-bit raw over HDMI to compatible recorders while simultaneously recording XAVC 4K and proxies in-camera. Internal 4K recording options include 4:2:2 10-bit colour with All-Intra and Long GOP codecs.

Sony FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM II Lens (Sony E)

A refined take on the fast standard zoom, the Sony FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM II is not only smaller and lighter than the previous generation, it also features a variety of optical, focusing, and handling upgrades, catering to both photo and video applications, that make this the most well-rounded G Master zoom to date.

Exceptional G Master Optical Quality

Designed to rival prime lenses, this G Master zoom delivers outstanding resolution, clarity, and refined bokeh quality across the entire zoom range. Its bright constant f/2.8 aperture excels in low-light conditions while providing beautiful shallow depth of field control for creative shooting. The advanced optical design includes two ED and two Super ED elements to effectively suppress chromatic aberrations and colour fringing, while five aspherical elements including two XA elements minimise distortion and unwanted onion ring bokeh. Nano AR Coating II further reduces flare and ghosting for improved contrast and clarity, and the 11-blade aperture diaphragm creates smooth, circular bokeh at all aperture settings.

Fast Autofocus and Advanced Video Performance

The redesigned focusing system delivers faster, quieter, and more precise autofocus performance through the use of four XD Linear Motors, making the lens ideal for both photography and video production. Fast-moving subjects can be tracked accurately at up to 30 fps, with autofocus maintained even when shooting stopped down or zooming during operation. A floating focus mechanism maintains exceptional image quality throughout the focusing range, supporting close-up shooting with a minimum focusing distance of just 8.3 inches at 24mm and a maximum magnification of 0.32x at 70mm. For video creators, focus breathing, focus shift, and axial shift during zooming have all been minimised for smoother and more accurate cinematic recording, while Linear Response MF and a de-clickable aperture ring provide precise and intuitive manual control.

Compact, Durable, and Built for Professional Use

Among the smallest and lightest f/2.8 standard zoom lenses available, this model combines professional durability with impressive portability. Approximately 22% lighter and 18% smaller than its predecessor, it remains highly versatile for a wide variety of shooting applications. The hybrid metal and plastic construction balances strength with reduced weight, while the dust- and moisture-resistant design includes extensive sealing for dependable performance in challenging weather conditions. Additional professional features include two programmable focus hold buttons, a focus mode switch, adjustable zoom ring torque settings, and a fluorine-coated front element that resists water, oil, and contaminants for easier cleaning. The included lens hood also features a locking button and filter window for convenient adjustment of rotating filters such as polarisers and variable ND filters.
