Sigma 50mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art Lens for L-Mount

The Sigma 50mm f/1.4 Art Lens is designed to make plenty possible. Just like so many other Sigma Lenses, it's beautifully designed to make high optical performances and beautiful bokeh renderings easily achievable. The combination of special low dispersion glass elements with a moulded glass aspherical element will see you producing inspired work.

Each of these elements is part of an advanced optical design that minimises sagittal coma flare and chromatic aberrations. A 50mm diameter lens diameter in a floating system will narrow the angle that light meets your outer lens. This means less light fall-off and vignetting, and more contrast and colour fidelity all the way through your photos.

The Sigma 50mm f/1.4 features a Super Multi Coating on each of its lens elements, helping to address flare and ghosting. The nine-blade diaphragm on this bright f/1.4 maximum aperture lens pushes the capabilities of selective focus and permits users to walk in the depth of field of their photography as close as they dare to go.

Portraiture isn't outside the capabilities of this amazing lens, the ability to play with a shallow depth of field and introduce silky smooth bokeh will make for some truly stunning shots.

Under the hood is a Hyper Sonic Motor. Capable of producing a quick, smooth and quiet autofocus, while still affording you the freedom of a full-time manual focus override. All of this is housed in a thermally stable composite material that features a brass bayonet mount. Not only will it perform, but it'll also look, feel and sound good while it's doing it.

A high-resolution lens capable of outstanding bokeh

The tight selective focus that the Sigma 50mm Art Lens offers a startlingly high resolution, but also a silky-smooth bokeh affect to the front and rear. They've minimized sagittal coma flare and chromatic aberrations while pushing an exceptional level of image resolution.

Sigma has achieved something special here. Even when brought wide-open, the detail of your photos won't show any signs of bleeding or streaking. The absence of any fall-off or peripheral vignetting will enable you to achieve those silky, natural-looking bokeh effects you've been looking.

Minimized axial chromatic aberration

Axial chromatic aberration isn't easy to address after the fact with even the best image processing software. Sigma has equipped their 50mm Art Lens with Special Low Dispersion glass. This will help to minimise axial chromatic aberrations, delivering crystal clear, high-contrast image quality throughout the frame.

Minimized sagittal coma flare

Sagittal Coma Flare is an optical aberration that occurs when our lens focus is on or near points that have other light sources toward their peripheral focus. Leading to a 'coma' or tail is the common effect, and they can bring a harsh an unnatural appearance to objects that ought to appear round.

The Sigma 50mm f/1.4 Art Lens features a precision-moulded aspheric lens element toward the rearmost lens group. Minimised light streaking and is specifically designed to address point light sources near the edge of the image make this lens is an excellent choice for shooting heavenly bodies and night-time illumination.

High peripheral brightness

Large-aperture lenses are prone to reduced peripheral brightness. To address this in their 50mm Art Lens, Sigma has crafted a wide f/1.4 aperture forward lens group. Even when opened all the way out, this entrant from Sigma Lenses holds the brightness and resolution of much lower aperture lenses.

Minimized distortion

Distortion is another optical aberration that the Sigma 50mm Art Lens is designed to overcome, and they got onto it early in the design process. Aspheric lens elements and some tricky power distribution help minimise the warping of photographic details all the way from the centre of your photos out to the widest peripherals.
