Overview

NiSi Nano IRND Filter (100 x 100mm, 15-Stop)

The 15-stop, 100 x 100mm NiSi Nano IRND Filter is an ND filter with a 32,000x filter factor that provides a 15-stop exposure reduction. Its 4.5 density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed without overexposing your image. By slowing your exposure time or increasing your aperture, you are able to control depth of field and convey movement more easily. Neutral density filters are intended to not affect the colouration of the image and are ideal for pairing with other filters.

The design of this filter has been optimised for use with digital sensors and to promote nearly flat attenuation of visible and infrared light. Due to imaging sensors' greater susceptibility to infrared light, compared to traditional film, colour casts can occur when photographing darker subjects that require increased exposure times. To provide a high level of neutrality across the visible and infrared spectrums in order to eliminate colour casts and ensure cleaner, truer blacks when using the NiSi 100 x 100mm Nano IRND 4.5 Filter, one layer of NiSi Optical Nano Coating is applied to each of this filter's surfaces. The Nano coating associated with this filter also results in an improved beading effect when in contact with water or oil for greater cleaning efficiency.

The NiSi 100 x 100mm Nano IRND 4.5 Filter is a 2mm-thick neutral density filter made from high-quality optical glass to maintain image clarity and colour fidelity. Offering a 15-stop exposure reduction, it darkens the image to allow longer shutter speeds or wider apertures, providing greater control over depth of field and creative effects such as motion blur. Designed to preserve colour neutrality, the filter features NiSi Optical Nano Coating on both surfaces to attenuate infrared and visible light, helping suppress unwanted colour casts during long exposures. The coating also improves resistance to water and oil, making the filter easier to clean. Suitable for photography applications, it can be used alongside other filters and comes with a leatherette pouch for convenient storage and transport. It is not suitable for direct solar viewing with the naked eye, including through optical viewfinders.
