Laowa 180mm f/4.5 1.5x Ultra Macro APO Lens

The Laowa 180mm f/4.5 1.5x Ultra Macro APO lens is the first tele-macro lens designed to transform telephoto, macro, and portrait photography. Combining a 1.5X ultra macro magnification, advanced apochromatic (APO) optics, a compact and lightweight design, and versatile functionality, this lens enables photographers to capture intricate details with exceptional clarity in both close-up subjects and distant scenes. With its robust lens build and innovative features, including autofocus and manual focus on selective mount options, it is a practical and powerful tool for professionals and enthusiasts.

1.5X Ultra Macro Magnification

The Laowa 180mm f/4.5 1.5X Ultra Macro APO lens is designed for photographers who demand extraordinary detail in close-up work. Offering a 1.5:1 magnification ratio, it reveals textures, patterns, and fine structures with exceptional clarity, making it perfect for capturing subjects such as insects, flowers, and other small wonders of nature. With a minimum focusing distance of 30cm and a comfortable 14.7cm working distance, it allows you to shoot close without disturbing your subject, ensuring both precision and creative flexibility.

Compact and Lightweight Design

Despite its powerful 180mm telephoto reach and 1.5X ultra-macro capabilities, this lens maintains a remarkably compact form, enhancing portability for photographers on the move. Its streamlined design makes it one of the smallest in its class, offering a far more travel-friendly alternative to bulkier options. Ideal for professionals and enthusiasts alike, it delivers high performance without the added weight, making it perfectly suited to handheld shooting, fieldwork, or creative adventures on the go.

APO Design

Utilising an apochromatic (APO) design, this lens effectively eliminates longitudinal and lateral chromatic aberrations. The result is exceptional sharpness, accurate colour reproduction, and minimal fringing across the entire image, even in challenging light. This makes it a perfect tool for precision-dependent macro and telephoto photography.

Outstanding Sharpness

The Laowa 180mm f/4.5 1.5X Ultra Macro APO delivers outstanding corner-to-corner sharpness, even at high magnifications, for excellent image quality. Featuring an advanced optical design with 12 elements in 9 groups, it provides consistent, razor-sharp performance for macro photography. This configuration excels at capturing subjects with extreme detail, making it ideal for intricate close-up shots and professional-grade results across the frame.

Auto Focus and Manual Focus Function in Selective Mount Options

The lens offers autofocus (AF) functionality for Sony FE and Nikon Z mounts, enabling sharp focusing on subjects from 1.5m to infinity. Switching to AF mode is simple-just rotate the focus ring to the infinity point until you feel a distinct click. For subjects within 1.5m, manual focus provides precise macro control, with full compatibility available on Canon RF and Leica L mounts. This versatile design streamlines workflow across telephoto, portrait, wildlife, and close-up shooting.

Durable, Well-Built Lens Housing

The Laowa 180mm f/4.5 1.5X Ultra Macro APO lens is built with a durable, robust housing designed to withstand challenging shooting conditions. Its internal focusing system prevents lens extension during use, ensuring balanced handling while offering added dust protection. Practical features include a dedicated function button for quick adjustments, a 62mm filter thread for creative flexibility, and a Type-C port for firmware updates. For enhanced stability, a tripod collar tailored to the lens is available as a separately purchasable accessory.
