Features

True Hybrid Content Creation

It's not often a manufacturer states they have two cameras in one. For many years Canon users have expressed vocally online about their desire to merge the best of both worlds - Canon's famous cine and still products. There was a waging war about when they would do it, and now we can confirm the Canon R5 C is the camera that everyone has been waiting for.

If you are a professional photographer who requires 45MP still images, or a cinematographer who requires 8K video, the R5 C will meet your expectations. To obtain the best of both worlds, you will need some additional accessories to manage power externally. Don't forget that you're going to need some additional card storage to store the crisp images and 8K video files within the camera.

Professional 8K Video Support

The Canon EOS R5 C defines everything a cinematographer needs. 8K recording is possible at 60P¬π both internally and externally via an external recorder. The full-frame sensor on the new camera can readout signals for all effective pixels at 8K¬π, thus enabling 4:2:2 10-bit HD recording through oversampling during 4K/2K video recording. In addition, cinematographers and photographers can record video in the following formats:

  • Fit 8K 60p
  • Fit 4K 60p
  • Fit 4K 120p
  • CropS35 4K 60P
  • CropS35 4K 120P
  • CropS16 2K 120P

Cinema RAW Light is also on the cards for users. Using this codec, Canon offers the support of MX-based XF-AVC, which conforms to current broadcast standards and highly versatile MP4.

Simultaneous RAW Recording

If you are familiar with the Canon R5, the R5 C boasts the same dual SD card slots with the combination to add an additional CFexpress card. Plus, there's the ability to record simultaneously to both cards, making it ideal as a backup solution. Choose from different file formats, resolutions and colour sampling when simultaneously recording.

The Canon R5 C Keeps It Cool

If you think that the original and highly acclaimed Canon EOS R5 was a cool camera, wait till you check out the all-new Canon R5 C. Videographers loved the capabilities of the Canon R5 however were limited to 4K recording due to the camera limitations. Shooting above 4K consumes considerable power and causes heat dissipation and continuous recording issues. The Canon EOS R5 C addresses those issues by fitting the camera body with an all-new heat dissipating design.

The size of the Canon R5 C is considerably deeper than the original R5 to accommodate the internal cooling fan system and airflow vents on both sides of the body. As a result, you'll enjoy continuous and uninterrupted recording thanks to effective heat dissipation while pulling power from an external continuous power source. The limitations of 4K recording are a thing of the past thanks to the Canon R5 C's ability to now record full 8K video footage at 60p.

Create Immersive VR Content

One of the most exciting features of the Canon EOS R5 C is the compatibility with Canon's future-ready approach to Virtual Reality. The R5 C can capture high-resolution VR images and video with the revolutionary Canon RF 5.2mm f/2.8L Dual Fisheye 3D VR lens. Capture immersive multi-dimensional and stereoscopic content to enhance online content and visual presentation.

The L-Series Canon RF 5.2mm f/2.8L Dual Fisheye 3D VR lens is the world's first interchangeable lens capable of capturing stereoscopic 3D 180-degree Virtual Reality imagery to a single image sensor. The Canon EOS R5 and R5 C optimise the high-resolution full-frame CMOS sensor and record a single image or video file. With the R5 C², up to 8K, 60p¹ footage can be viewed on compatible VR headsets, including the Oculus Quest 2.
