At its core, the camera features a newly developed 66.8MP Exmor RS full-frame stacked BSI CMOS sensor, the highest resolution sensor ever used in an a7 body. The stacked design enables readout speeds up to 5.6 times faster than previous generations, improving responsiveness and reducing distortion. Image quality benefits from improved clarity, reduced shadow noise, and a wide 16-stop dynamic range. It supports 14-bit high-resolution stills with a native ISO range of 100 to 32000, expandable from ISO 50 to 102400, making it suitable for both high-contrast scenes and low-light environments.

The in-body image stabilisation system delivers up to 8.5 stops of compensation at the centre and up to 7 stops at the edges, using a 5-axis gyro-based system for precise shake control. For video, Active IS improves stability during handheld shooting. The camera also includes Pixel Shift Multi Shooting, which combines up to 16 exposures to produce approximately 265.8MP equivalent files with enhanced colour accuracy and detail. Additional multi-frame HDR and noise reduction modes further expand dynamic range and image cleanliness.

Sony VG-G6 Vertical Grip for Sony A7R VI Mirrorless Camera

Dedicated to the Sony a7R VI mirrorless camera, the VG-C6 Vertical Grip offers both extended battery and a more comfortable grip when shooting in the vertical orientation. The grip accepts either one or two NP-SA100 batteries to increase the effective battery life for longer shooting sessions, and the batteries can be charged in the grip while attached to the camera via the body's USB port. Compared to previous-generation vertical grips, the VG-C6 also has refined circuitry that supports parallel power supply to provide even longer effective operation times and and the remaining battery life for both batteries can be indicated on the camera display.

The grip's design maintains the same layout as the camera body itself, and includes a secondary shutter button and Multi-Selector for intuitive use. The grip is built from magnesium alloy and is dust and moisture resistant to match the weather-sealing of the camera itself.

Sony NP-SA100 Battery

Dedicated to select Sony cameras, the NP-SA100 Battery is a 2670 mAh rechargeable lithium-ion battery. This high-capacity battery can be charged inside compatible cameras or is compatible with the BC-SAD1 Battery Charger. Also, it supports Sony's Battery Health Check system, which is visible on a camera's monitor, to avoid unexpected battery issues and identify the right time to replace.
