RED Global Vision

With the V-RAPTOR XL [X] 8K VV, RED has introduced its Global Vision suite of tools that uses the global shutter sensor to offer even greater flexibility and ease of use throughout your production process.

These tools include Extended Highlights for increasing detail, producing finer HDR finishes or softer, more subtle highlight roll-offs when using SDR.

Phantom Track

The Phantom Track function streamlines any virtual production workflow using GhostFrame or frame remapping, capturing distinct R3D clips for each subframe slice in addition to enabling monitoring of either slice live on set over each SDI output. This enables your director and talent to work with the aid of a green screen background while the VF/X team can simultaneously view the frame without having to view or lock in that background. Phantom Track can also be used when applying dedicated ad overlays during a live broadcast.

Advanced, Intelligent Focus

In-camera processing and on-sensor, enhanced phase-detection autofocus plus all-new face detection enable the V-RAPTOR XL [X] to offer versatility and confidence to all levels of filmmakers.

Dynamic Range

The 17+ stops of dynamic range in standard modes and up to 20+ with Extended Highlights enable the V-RAPTOR XL [X] to deliver both smooth highlight roll-off and uncompromising low-light performance.

Up to 8K 120 fps

Unmatched frame-rate performance enables V-RAPTOR XL [X] users to leverage creative elements like time-lapse or speed ramping or to extract ultrasharp still photos. Frame rate options include 8K, 7K, 6K, 4K, and 2K selections.

Built-In Control Display

The integrated side display provides intuitive, and easily navigable, comprehensive control, including in-camera format selections, customized buttons, and more.

Dual-Voltage Battery Support

An integrated V-mount battery plate with multiple auxiliary power outputs supports both high-voltage 26V batteries and standard 12V batteries.

Internal ND Filters

Motorized clear and 2 to 7-stop ND filters with 1/4, 1/3, and 1-stop increments provide precision exposure control.

Auxiliary Power Outputs

Multiple 12 and 24V outputs provide auxiliary power for accessories and peripherals, all in a centralized location.

Viewing Options Include RED Touch 7.0"

Compatibility with the DSMC3 RED Touch 7.0" LCD and front-facing 3G-SDI and 2-pin, 12V power ports support any operator's viewing preferences.

SDI Output Plus Wireless Control

The V-RAPTOR XL [X] 8K VV offers wireless timecode, genlock, and camera control.

Four SDI outputs support onboard monitors and your DIT cart.

Virtual Production/Advanced Connectivity

The V-RAPTOR XL [X] 8K VV uses a DSMC3 platform to offer advanced connectivity solutions like remote control, remote monitoring, in-camera Frame.io integrations, AWS (Amazon Web Services) direct upload, RED Connect for live 8K R3D video over IP or live 4K via SMPTE ST 2110, and more. These enhanced features put the V-RAPTOR xl [X] at the forefront of technology used for virtual production.

Live Streaming and Control Pro App

Connect the V-RAPTOR XL [X] using fiber cable and the RED CONNECT module to live stream 8K full-resolution, cinematic video over an IP network. Use the RED Control Pro iOS/Android app and the all-new RED CONNECT technology to unlock the V-RAPTOR [X]'s capabilities.

All-New Audio Architecture

Newly engineered audio hardware provides cleaner, clearer audio when using external microphones with the V-RAPTOR XL [X]. Audio updates include improved in-camera preamps, making run-and-gun, single-system setups easier.

Advanced Cooling

The V-RAPTOR XL [X] features an all-new, three-stage cooling system with dedicated fans cooling the camera components and the auxiliary power components separately while a thermoelectric heat exchanger maintains a precise sensor temperature. This advanced cooling enables quieter operation, less black shading, and a more robust performance no matter the environment.

Durable, Rugged Design

Designed with water and dust-resistant materials in critical areas of its body, the V-RAPTOR XL [X] is suitable for a wide variety of environments. However, it is not waterproof and should be handled as you would any high-end electronics.
