RED Digital Cinema V-RAPTOR XE Cine Essentials Pack

Flagship Image Quality, Streamlined for Essentials

The V-RAPTOR XE 8K VV Camera from RED Digital Cinema delivers the 8K global shutter and compact design of the V-RAPTOR X, while focusing on the core features essential to modern filmmaking. Built on RED's DSMC3 platform, the XE provides a large-format VV sensor in a lightweight 1.81 kg body, capturing 8K video in up to 60 fps with 17+ stops of dynamic range. Balancing high-end performance with class-leading value, the XE omits advanced Global Vision features like Phantom Track and Extended Highlights, but retains the same image quality, workflow flexibility, and robust connectivity that define RED's V-RAPTOR line.

Filmmakers benefit from the global shutter's 8 ms shutter scan time, advanced autofocus with face detection, simultaneous ProRes proxy recording, and dual 12G-SDI outputs for discrete monitoring. Compact, rugged, and ready for a variety of rig configurations, the XE is a cost-effective solution for productions requiring RED's flagship sensor technology.

8K VV Sensor with Global Shutter

The 35.4MP large-format VV sensor features a global shutter, eliminating the artifacts produced by rolling shutters in scenes with rapid motion or flashing lights. With a scan time of just 8 ms, the XE ensures distortion-free motion capture while maintaining full detail, contrast, and dynamic range across every frame. The XE provides a multitude of resolution and frame-rate options, capturing 17:9 footage up to 8192 x 4320 when utilising its entire VV sensor.

Intelligent Autofocus

Powered by in-camera processing, on-sensor phase detection, and advanced face detection, the V-RAPTOR XE provides all levels of filmmakers with precise, automatic focus control in a wide range of environments.

Dynamic Range

The V-RAPTOR XE delivers 17+ stops of dynamic range, with REDCODE Raw preserving fine detail in both extreme highlights and deep shadows. With class-leading performance in low light, the XE maintains saturation in shadows while reducing fixed pattern noise.

Flexible Video Recording

Sporting a single CFexpress Type B card slot, the XE records internally to a compatible media card with data rates topping out at 800 MB/s. With support for REDCODE Raw HQ recording, the XE ensures post-production flexibility for colour grading, cropping, and visual effects. Simultaneous proxy recording and alternative format options ensure smooth integration with existing workflows.

R3D format ensures maximum latitude and post-production flexibility

Simultaneous ProRes proxy recording for a streamlined editorial process

Dedicated ProRes 4444 XQ recording up to 4K120

Built-In Controls and Monitoring

With multiple monitoring outputs and comprehensive on-body controls, the XE ensures efficient operation on set and in the field. Built into the right side of the camera, the control interface features a 2.4" LCD screen with easily navigable menus, providing an AC or camera operator with comprehensive control over in-camera format selection and other important functions. Dual 12G-SDI ports deliver unique monitoring views, while a USB-C port outputs data at up to 250 MB/s.

Advanced Connectivity

Supporting both wired and wireless IP connectivity, the XE allows cloud-based collaboration and app-based remote camera control. When used with RED's Z to PL Adapter with electronic ND filters, the XE allows ND strength to be continuously adjusted over Wi-Fi in fine increments of 1/100 of a stop.

Direct integration with Frame.io and AWS (Amazon Web Services)

Compatible with RED Control and RED Control Pro Apps for wireless monitoring and operation

Adjust camera settings from remote locations via Wi-Fi connection

Rugged DSMC3 Design

Sharing the same form factor as the V-RAPTOR X, the XE's lightweight 1.81 kg aluminium alloy body ensures durability without sacrificing mobility. Its advanced thermal management system maintains the camera's optimal internal temperature, preventing both overheating and overcooling.

RED Digital Cinema V-RAPTOR Z to PL with Electronic ND Filter Adapter Pack

PL Lens Mount with Variable ND

The V-RAPTOR Z to PL with Electronic ND Filter Adapter Pack from RED lets you use cine-style ARRI PL-mount lenses with your V-RAPTOR camera and easily adjust your exposure two to seven stops. The titanium-core adapter transmits Cooke /i data and record triggering, can be shimmed, and is temperature resistant.

Robust PL Mount

This robust mount enables consistent, precise back focus whether you're using the ND or the clear filter.

Please note that existing RED V-RAPTOR RF to PL or V-RAPTOR Z to PL adapter users should contact RED directly about purchasing just the Z to PL with ND adapter without the ribs or support brackets.

Please note that this adapter is only compatible with the V-RAPTOR camera.

Neutral Density and Clear Filters

Use the variable neutral density filter to reduce your exposure by 2 to 7 stops. Adjusting your image brightness can be done independently of your camera and lens.

This enables more flexible exposure and depth of field control while recording video without stopping down on your lens or adjusting your shutter speed.

The ND filter is paired with a clear filter of the same thickness so that your back focus remains the same when you don't need to use the ND.

Support Components

This lens adapter pack also includes PL support brackets.

The brackets add rigidity, providing native mount-like support.

RED Digital Cinema DSMC3 RED Touch 7.0" LCD with Rigid Hinge

Add a direct-mount onboard monitor to your DSMC3 camera rig with the DSMC3 RED Touch 7.0" LCD Monitor with Rigid Hinge from RED Digital Cinema. The RED Touch features daylight viewing, a wide 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut, and touchscreen control for DSMC3 cameras, such as the V-RAPTOR 8K VV. The rigid hinge and arm enable you to apply more pressure for positioning the Touch for optimal viewing. The Touch monitor features 1920 x 1200 resolution, a 1250:1 contrast ratio, and 1300 cd/m² brightness for high-quality imaging.

This monitor attaches directly to your DSMC3 BRAIN using its Pogo mount, which provides video, data, and power to the monitor from the camera. If you need to use the Pogo mount for another accessory, the monitor also features a locking USB-C connector that alternately allows you to pass video, data, and power to the camera. Note that the DSMC3 Touch monitor is not compatible with DSMC, DSMC2, RED RANGER, or KOMODO camera systems.

Daylight Viewable

Designed for daylight viewing with 322 ppi, 1920 x 1200 resolution, and 1800 cd/m² brightness.

Rigid Hinge

A rigid hinge system enables you to apply greater pressure when positioning the Touch for reliable viewing.

DCI-P3 Colour Gamut

A 1920 x 1200 resolution and wide 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut for optimal imaging.

SmallHD Page OS

Runs SmallHD PageOS software that provides full camera control. Features include waveform, vectorscope, histogram, false colour, colour picker, pixel zoom, and additional functions.
