Balancing high-end performance with class-leading value, the XE omits advanced Global Vision features like Phantom Track and Extended Highlights, but retains the same image quality, workflow flexibility, and robust connectivity that define RED's V-RAPTOR line.

Filmmakers benefit from the global shutter's 8 ms shutter scan time, advanced autofocus with face detection, simultaneous ProRes proxy recording, and dual 12G-SDI outputs for discrete monitoring. Compact, rugged, and ready for a variety of rig configurations, the XE is a cost-effective solution for productions requiring RED's flagship sensor technology.

8K VV Sensor with Global Shutter

The 35.4MP large-format VV sensor features a global shutter, eliminating the artifacts produced by rolling shutters in scenes with rapid motion or flashing lights. With a scan time of just 8 ms, the XE ensures distortion-free motion capture while maintaining full detail, contrast, and dynamic range across every frame. The XE provides a multitude of resolution and frame-rate options, capturing 17:9 footage up to 8192 x 4320 when utilising its entire VV sensor.

Intelligent Autofocus

Powered by in-camera processing, on-sensor phase detection, and advanced face detection, the V-RAPTOR XE provides all levels of filmmakers with precise, automatic focus control in a wide range of environments.

Dynamic Range

The V-RAPTOR XE delivers 17+ stops of dynamic range, with REDCODE Raw preserving fine detail in both extreme highlights and deep shadows. With class-leading performance in low light, the XE maintains saturation in shadows while reducing fixed pattern noise.

Flexible Video Recording

Sporting a single CFexpress Type B card slot, the XE records internally to a compatible media card with data rates topping out at 800 MB/s. With support for REDCODE Raw HQ recording, the XE ensures post-production flexibility for colour grading, cropping, and visual effects. Simultaneous proxy recording and alternative format options ensure smooth integration with existing workflows.

R3D format ensures maximum latitude and post-production flexibility

Simultaneous ProRes proxy recording for a streamlined editorial process

Dedicated ProRes 4444 XQ recording up to 4K120

Built-In Controls and Monitoring

With multiple monitoring outputs and comprehensive on-body controls, the XE ensures efficient operation on set and in the field. Built into the right side of the camera, the control interface features a 2.4" LCD screen with easily navigable menus, providing an AC or camera operator with comprehensive control over in-camera format selection and other important functions. Dual 12G-SDI ports deliver unique monitoring views, while a USB-C port outputs data at up to 250 MB/s.

Advanced Connectivity

Supporting both wired and wireless IP connectivity, the XE allows cloud-based collaboration and app-based remote camera control. When used with RED's Z to PL Adapter with electronic ND filters, the XE allows ND strength to be continuously adjusted over Wi-Fi in fine increments of 1/100 of a stop.

Direct integration with Frame.io and AWS (Amazon Web Services)

Compatible with RED Control and RED Control Pro Apps for wireless monitoring and operation

Adjust camera settings from remote locations via Wi-Fi connection

Rugged DSMC3 Design

Sharing the same form factor as the V-RAPTOR X, the XE's lightweight 1.81 kg aluminium alloy body ensures durability without sacrificing mobility. Its advanced thermal management system maintains the camera's optimal internal temperature, preventing both overheating and overcooling.
