The lens construction features 8 elements in 7 groups, including 3 aspherical elements, 2 ED (Extra-low Dispersion) elements, and a UHR (Ultra-High Refractive Index) element, designed to keep those pesky distortions and chromatic aberrations at bay. The results are clear, sharp images with excellent contrast, even in tricky lighting conditions.

For close-up enthusiasts, the Lumix S 18-40mm focuses down to 0.15m at the wide end, offering a maximum magnification of 0.28x at 21mm - ideal for capturing fine details.
