Product Overview

The NiSi S6 150mm Filter Holder Adapter Ring is designed to enable the use of a NiSi S6 150mm Filter Holder System on a Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8G lens. The use of the S6 filter holder is easily accomplished by first sliding the adapter ring over the integrated hood of a lens and tightening. The adapter ring accommodates a NiSi S6 Circular Filter for NiSi S6 including a Circular Polarizer and UV filter. When combined with the adapter ring, a compatible polarizer filter can be rotated to adjust its effect. Both the external dials on the adapter ring allow for the independent rotation of the circular polarizer. A NiSi S5 150mm Filter Holder can then be placed over the adapter ring. After being fitted onto the adapter ring, the filter holder's pull-and-release locking pin helps to provide a reliable, yet adjustable connection that allows the filter holder to be rotated 360°, permitting the use of graduated neutral density and other filters that are enhanced by varied positioning. For durability, this adapter ring features an aluminium alloy construction. The adapter allows very quick installation and removal without removing the lens from the camera. Already own the NiSi S6 Holder Kit? Simply add this adaptor to make it compatible with the Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8G lens.

FAQs

What makes the NiSi S6 150mm Filter Holder Adapter Ring suitable for the Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8G lens?

The NiSi S6 150mm Filter Holder Adapter Ring is specifically designed to fit over the integrated hood of the Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8G lens. This ensures a secure attachment that allows for the seamless use of the NiSi S6 filter holder system, providing photographers with the ability to use a range of filters without compromising the lens's performance. The adapter's construction from aluminium alloy also contributes to its lightweight durability, making it ideal for outdoor photography.

Can I use other brands of filters with this adapter ring?

The NiSi S6 150mm Filter Holder Adapter Ring is optimised for use with NiSi S6 circular filters, including polariser and UV filters. While it may physically fit certain other brands, compatibility in terms of functionality and performance cannot be guaranteed. For the best results and to take full advantage of the adapter's features, it is recommended to use NiSi filters designed for the S6 system.

How does the independent rotation of the circular polarizer work with this adapter?

The adapter ring features dials that allow for independent rotation of the circular polarizer filter. This means that you can adjust the polarizer's effect without affecting the positioning of the other filters mounted on the holder. This functionality is particularly useful when trying to achieve specific lighting effects or to manage reflections in your composition, enhancing the overall quality of your images.

Is it easy to install and remove the adapter ring from the lens?

Yes, the NiSi S6 150mm Filter Holder Adapter Ring is designed for quick installation and removal. You simply slide it over the lens hood and tighten it in place. This user-friendly design allows photographers to switch between filters and adapt their setup without the need to detach the lens from the camera, saving time and maintaining the workflow during shoots.

Can I use the NiSi S6 adapter ring with the S5 system filters?

The NiSi S6 150mm Filter Holder Adapter Ring is specifically designed for the S6 system and is compatible with S6 circular filters. If you own the previous generation S5 system, you should use the S5 holder and S5 circular filters. Using S5 filters with the S6 holder may not provide the desired results due to differences in design and functionality between the two systems.

What specific types of photography benefit from using this adapter ring?

The NiSi S6 150mm Filter Holder Adapter Ring is particularly beneficial for landscape photographers, long exposure enthusiasts, and anyone working with natural light. The ability to use graduated neutral density filters allows for balanced exposures in high-contrast scenes, while the circular polarizer can enhance colours and reduce glare. This makes it an essential tool for capturing vibrant, well-exposed images in diverse lighting conditions.
