NiSi Explorer Collection 150x170mm Nano IR Medium Graduated Neutral Density Filter - GND8 (0.9) - 3 Stop
The Explorer Collection 150x170mm Nano IR Medium Graduated 3-Stop ND Filter from NiSi is a rectangular filter that helps darken specific areas of an image, such as bright skies, while allowing for normal, unaffected exposure in the other regions of the image. The filter is densest at the edge and tapers to clear by the middle, with a soft-edged line of transition between the dense and clear areas. Neutral density filters do not affect the colouration of the image, and this filter provides up to a 3-stop reduction in light from entering the lens. This is a useful feature when shooting landscapes to saturate the sky without losing foreground detail in darkness.
The design of this filter has been optimized for use with digital sensors and to promote nearly flat attenuation of visible and infrared light. This filter is made of tempered, hardened B270 optical glass, and it features layers of Nano multicoating on both surfaces for optimal imaging. Due to imaging sensors' greater susceptibility to infrared light, compared to traditional film, colour casts can occur when photographing darker subjects that require increased exposure times. Explorer Collection filters feature an infrared protection coating to eliminate infrared light for natural colour rendition. Finally, a layer of resistance coating repels water, grease, and grime. This filter fits holders that accept 150mm wide, 2mm thick rectangular filters.
