Product Overview

The NiSi Cinema Rotating 82mm Allure Streak BLUE (2mm) is a special effects filter designed to render a single light ray from a point light source. This filter features a single series of etched lines spaced 2mm apart from each other, which run across the filter surface. The filter creates the effect of elongated blue streaks horizontally from the light source usually seen when using an Anamorphic type of lens. The 82mm filter has a rotating front (similar to how a CPL rotates) and when the filter is rotated, the orientation of the light ray can be adjusted to suit your composition or desired effect. The filter is constructed from clear optical-grade glass H-K9L for maintained image clarity and an aluminium frame.

FAQs

How does the NiSi Cinema Rotating 82mm Allure Streak BLUE filter create its unique light streak effect?

The NiSi Cinema Rotating 82mm Allure Streak BLUE filter creates its unique light streak effect through a series of etched lines on its surface, spaced 2mm apart. When light passes through these lines, it gets elongated into a streak, producing a visually striking blue ray effect that is particularly prominent with point light sources. This effect is reminiscent of the flare seen in anamorphic lenses, making it ideal for creative cinematography.

What types of photography or videography are best suited for this filter?

This filter is best suited for photography and videography involving point light sources, such as streetlights, car headlights, or reflections on water. It works effectively with focal lengths of 35mm and longer, allowing for a more pronounced streak effect. It's particularly popular in genres like music videos, fashion shoots, and cinematic storytelling where enhanced visual flair is desired.

Can this filter be used with any type of lens?

While the NiSi Cinema Rotating 82mm Allure Streak BLUE filter is designed for lenses with a standard 82mm thread, it is recommended to use it with lenses that have a focal length of 35mm and longer. This ensures that the streak effect remains straight and free from distortion, allowing you to achieve the best possible results. If your lens has a different filter thread size, you may need a step-up ring to adapt it.

How do I effectively use the rotating feature of this filter?

The rotating feature of the NiSi Cinema Rotating 82mm Allure Streak BLUE filter allows you to adjust the orientation of the light streak according to your composition. To use it effectively, simply attach the filter to your lens and rotate it while observing the viewfinder or screen. This will enable you to position the streak in a way that complements your subject and enhances the overall visual impact of your shot.

What precautions should I take when using this filter?

When using the NiSi Cinema Rotating 82mm Allure Streak BLUE filter, it is important to handle it with care to avoid scratches or damage to the optical glass. Always store it in a protective case when not in use, and clean the filter with a microfiber cloth to maintain its clarity. Additionally, be mindful of extreme lighting conditions that may lead to unwanted reflections or flares, and adjust your settings accordingly.

Will this filter affect the overall colour and contrast of my images?

No, the NiSi Cinema Rotating 82mm Allure Streak BLUE filter is constructed from high-quality optical-grade glass, specifically H-K9L, which ensures that it maintains the original image quality. It does not significantly alter the overall colour or contrast of your images, allowing you to achieve the desired streak effect without compromising the integrity of your photos or videos.
