Product Overview

The NiSi Cinema Rotating 77mm Allure Streak ORANGE (2mm) is a special effects filter designed to render a single light ray from a point light source. This filter features a single series of etched lines spaced 2mm apart from each other, which run across the filter surface. The filter creates the effect of elongated orange streaks horizontally from the light source usually seen when using an Anamorphic type of lens. The 77mm filter has a rotating front (similar to how a CPL rotates) and when the filter is rotated, the orientation of the light ray can be adjusted to suit your composition or desired effect. The filter is constructed from clear optical-grade glass H-K9L for maintained image clarity and an aluminum frame.

FAQs

What types of scenes or subjects are best suited for the NiSi Cinema Rotating 77mm Allure Streak ORANGE filter?

The NiSi Cinema Rotating 77mm Allure Streak ORANGE filter is particularly effective for creating dramatic lighting effects in various scenarios. It works best with point light sources such as street lamps, neon signs, or reflections on water. It can enhance urban landscapes, night scenes, and portraits where you want to add a unique flair. Using this filter with reflective materials or metallic surfaces can yield striking results, adding an artistic touch to your compositions.

How does the rotation feature of this filter impact the final image?

The rotating feature of the NiSi Cinema Rotating 77mm Allure Streak ORANGE filter allows you to adjust the orientation of the light streaks to suit your composition. By rotating the filter, you can control the direction and placement of the orange streaks in relation to your subject, which can significantly impact the mood and aesthetic of your image. This flexibility enables you to experiment with different angles and achieve the desired effect that complements your artistic vision.

Can this filter be used with any camera lens?

The NiSi Cinema Rotating 77mm Allure Streak ORANGE filter is designed to fit lenses with a 77mm filter thread. To use it with other lens sizes, you would need a step-up ring to adapt the filter to the appropriate diameter. However, it is recommended to use this filter with focal lengths of 35mm and longer to ensure that the streak effect is rendered correctly without distortion, delivering the best visual results.

What is the significance of the 2mm etched line spacing on this filter?

The 2mm etched line spacing on the NiSi Cinema Rotating 77mm Allure Streak ORANGE filter is crucial for achieving the specific effect of elongated streaks. This spacing determines the width and frequency of the light rays produced from point sources. The 2mm interval ensures that the streaks are distinct and pronounced, allowing for a visually striking effect while maintaining clarity in the rest of the image. This design choice makes it ideal for creating cinematic lighting effects that are both subtle and impactful.

Will using this filter affect my image's overall colour balance and contrast?

No, the NiSi Cinema Rotating 77mm Allure Streak ORANGE filter is constructed from clear optical-grade glass, specifically H-K9L, which is designed to maintain the original image quality. This means that the filter does not significantly alter the overall colour balance or contrast of your images. Instead, it adds a creative effect by introducing the streaks while preserving the integrity of the colours and details in your photos.

Is this filter suitable for both photography and videography?

Yes, the NiSi Cinema Rotating 77mm Allure Streak ORANGE filter is suitable for both photography and videography. Its ability to create unique lighting effects makes it an excellent choice for filmmakers looking to add a cinematic quality to their scenes, as well as for photographers aiming to enhance their images with artistic streaks. The design caters to the needs of both mediums, providing versatility in creative expression.
