Nikon Z fc Body

Hot off the press: Nikon has just announced the Nikon Z FC digital mirrorless cameras and a couple of new Z-mount lens options. Nikon is here to make your day for those who love retro-inspired cameras or remember the glory days of film photography! Themed after the highly popular Nikon FM2 from the early 80s, the Nikon Z FC is a tactile and retro delight. True to Nikon film cameras of that era, the Z FC features essential commands dials for old-school exposure compensation.

In addition to the all-new Nikon Z FC, Nikon has announced a new retro-styled 28mm special-edition lens plus a silver version of the popular 16-50mm. But there's so much more on offer - you'll just have to read on.

Stylish Design Yet Tough as Nails

The Nikon Z FC looks stunning with eye-catching form and features that every photographer will fall in love with. The dust and drip-resistant magnesium alloy body is rugged and delivers exceptional strength to weight ratio. As a result, the camera is just 390g, making it ideal for street, travel and everyday carry. It's the lightest Nikon Z series camera to date. The retro design of the Nikon Z FC is built around the revolutionary Nikon Z-mount, making it a compact camera with the widest amount of any comparable camera system.

While there's an impressive amount of tech hidden behind the retro skin, that's not even the best bit! The Nikon Z fc is available in no less than seven different colours, including Black, Mint Green, Coral Pink, Amber Brown, Natural Grey, White and Sand Beige. But there's no need to stress about being stuck with a colour for life. Nikon is offering to interchange the body skin colours at any time via their service centres.

The top plate of the Nikon Z FC features three independent command dials to dial in exposure settings. They include an ISO dial, Shutter Speed dial and Exposure Compensation. What's more, to keep all controls in view, there's a switch for focus modes, another for video/stills mode, a small LCD for aperture value and the On/Off switch is built into the shutter release.

Powerful Performance From The Compact Nikon Z fc

The Nikon Z FC features an impressive list of performance specifications as a Nikon Z mirrorless digital camera. It houses a 20.9Mp APS-C DX-format image sensor driven by the blistering fast Expeed 6 Image Processor. Together to allow for fast and accurate shooting in all lighting conditions and support an ISO range from 100-51,200 and expanded up to 204,800.

All that processing power allows for stunning performance in autofocus, thanks also to the 209-point AF system with 87% coverage of the sensor. In addition, the Nikon Z FC boasts a range of autofocus tracking modes, including Eye Detect AF in both stills and video. The Nikon Z FC also supports Wide-area AF Eye-Detect modes for greater control over focus.

The Nikon Z FC Crowns Video as King!

Beyond stellar optical performance fit for photographers, the Nikon Z FC is a content creators dream. Video is king in the world of online social media and content sharing. Fortunately, the Nikon Z fc delivers sensational 4K UHD video up to 30p without any crop factor in play. If you want to capture smooth and mesmerising slow motion, it will support up to 120p in Full HD.

Vloggers love neat tech, and they'll love the Nikon Z FC for its vlogging-conscious performance. The various-angle LCD flips out to the side and rotates for camera-facing vlogging and selfies. Plus, a high-mounted hot-shoe supports an external shotgun or wireless microphone set-up. The typical tripod screw-thread mount allows you to drop the camera onto a gimbal or a full-height or table-top tripod.

To further support visual content creators, the Nikon Z FC is compatible with Nikon's Webcam utility software. As a result, you can employ the Z FC as a high-resolution webcam for live streaming. A USB-C port allows you to connect directly to a computer or charge the camera.

There's So Much More To The Nikon Z FC Announcement

The news of the upcoming Nikon Z FC has woken up the camera community to the possibilities of unique camera designs. And while the idea of a retro-inspired camera also being available in seven colours is hot news, there's more in store.
