Print Templates

Mirage 5 features advanced print templates designed to be filled with images using flexible "slots"-defined areas where images can be placed, rotated, scaled, and layered. Slots can overlap partially or fully and be arranged in different stacking orders to suit complex layouts. Each slot is automatically numbered, and multiple slots can share the same number, allowing a single image to populate all matching slots simultaneously-ideal for passport and application photos. Masks, available as pixel or vector graphics, control which parts of images are visible, and any custom layout can be saved as a reusable template, streamlining repetitive workflows.

Template Editor

The newly developed Template Editor allows users to design custom, labour-saving templates through an intuitive interface built specifically for template creation. Users can apply solid colours or import image files as backgrounds, adjust slot size and positioning using Slot Frame settings, control how images scale within slots, and assign individual masks to each slot. This provides precise control over layout design, making it suitable for both simple and highly customised print templates.

Free Layout of Files on the Spread

Mirage 5 enables complete freedom when arranging images, allowing users to move, resize, rotate, and overlap files directly on the print layout. This flexibility opens up creative possibilities such as collages and multi-layered compositions, particularly useful for multi-page projects like photo albums. Any layout created can be instantly converted into a reusable template, combining creative flexibility with workflow efficiency.

Clear Program Interface

The redesigned Mirage 5 interface offers a cleaner, more efficient workspace by eliminating unnecessary windows and consolidating tools into a single environment. Files can be dragged directly into the Print Preview area, while the reorganised menu structure groups functions logically for easier navigation. The Mirage Job Archive is now fully integrated, removing the need for a separate application, and features like "Start Over" allow users to quickly clear all files and reset the workspace without restarting the software.

Improved Print Preview

The improved print preview displays all pages side-by-side in a scrollable view, making it easy to review multi-page print jobs. Navigation controls allow users to move quickly between pages, while pixel-accurate rendering ensures precise alignment, colour accuracy, and layout validation before printing, reducing errors and improving output reliability.

File & Templates Browser

The File & Templates Browser provides an organised overview of all imported images and available templates, enhancing workflow management. Users can search, filter, and sort files based on criteria such as placement status or orientation, preview images at various sizes, and quickly drag and drop files or templates into the print layout for faster project setup.

Multiple Print Jobs at the Same Time

Mirage 5 allows users to create and manage multiple print jobs simultaneously, offering greater flexibility in production environments. Jobs can be prepared, paused, deleted, or reprinted independently, enabling users to interrupt complex tasks to process urgent prints without losing progress on existing work.

"Undo/Redo" Function

The Undo/Redo functionality allows users to reverse or reapply changes made to layouts or settings, including manual image positioning and adjustments within the settings dialog. Accessible via menu options or standard keyboard shortcuts, this feature improves workflow efficiency, while the "Print Again" option enables quick reprints when no changes have been made.

Improved Handling/Placement of Embedded Logos

Mirage 5 simplifies logo integration by allowing users to scale and position embedded logos directly within the print preview using intuitive on-screen controls. By selecting a logo, adjustable handles appear for precise placement, ensuring accurate and consistent branding without requiring additional design software.

New Tools for Image Editing

Mirage 5 includes a range of non-destructive image editing tools accessible within the software, allowing adjustments without altering original files. Features include Gaussian blur with pixel-accurate preview and drop shadow effects with adjustable opacity, direction, softness, offset, and colour. Additional tools such as auto colour, auto contrast, exposure, white balance, sharpening, and support for Photoshop filters provide advanced control and professional-quality output.

New Print Mode "Only Black Ink"

For compatible printers and media combinations, Mirage 5 offers an "Only Black Ink" mode that uses pure black ink instead of grey inks. This feature is ideal for high-contrast monochrome printing and specialised applications requiring deep, consistent blacks, depending on printer support.

Settings Option "Simulation"

The Simulation feature provides advanced proofing capabilities, allowing users to simulate how prints will appear when output on different printers. Available under the "Extra" tab, this function supports all CMYK profiles installed on the system, helping ensure colour accuracy and reducing costly print errors.

Additional Print Marks

Mirage 5 enhances finishing precision with advanced print mark options, including the ability to inset crop marks to prevent unwanted white edges. The "Page Print Marks" feature allows marks to be applied across the entire layout rather than per image, with adjustable spacing to meet specific production requirements, ensuring accurate trimming and professional results.

Support for Current Operating Systems

Mirage 5 supports modern operating systems including macOS Ventura, Windows 11, and current Adobe Creative Cloud versions, while maintaining compatibility with Windows 10 and macOS High Sierra as minimum requirements. As a native 64-bit application, it delivers improved performance when handling large files, multiple print jobs, and high-quality production workflows.
