It requires an active account on the Mirage licence server and an internet connection to operate; additional workstation licences are needed if you wish to run Mirage 5 on more than one computer simultaneously, offering flexibility and an efficient workflow while providing a great way to get a first taste of what Mirage 5 has to offer.

Print Templates

Mirage 5 includes versatile print templates built around flexible "slots," which are defined areas where images can be placed, rotated, scaled, and layered as needed. Slots can overlap partially or fully and be arranged in different stacking orders for advanced layouts. Each slot is automatically numbered, and multiple slots can share the same number, allowing one image to automatically populate all matching slots-ideal for applications such as passport or ID photos. Users can also apply pixel or vector masks to control visible areas of images, and any custom layout can be saved and reused as a template for efficient workflow management.

Template Editor

The newly developed Template Editor enables users to design custom templates quickly and efficiently using an intuitive interface tailored for template creation. Users can select solid colours or import their own images as backgrounds, adjust slot size and positioning via Slot Frame settings, and control how images scale within each slot. Individual masks can also be applied per slot, providing precise creative flexibility for both simple and complex designs.

Free Layout of Files on the Spread

Mirage 5 allows complete freedom when arranging images on the print layout, enabling users to move, resize, rotate, and layer images independently. With support for overlapping elements, users can create collages, multi-image compositions, and multipage designs such as photo albums without limitation. Any layout created can be instantly converted into a reusable template, combining creative freedom with workflow efficiency.

Clear Program Interface

The redesigned Mirage 5 interface streamlines workflow by eliminating unnecessary windows and consolidating all tools into a single, organised workspace. Files can be dragged directly into the Print Preview area, while the improved menu structure groups functions logically for easy navigation. The Mirage Job Archive is now fully integrated, removing the need for a separate application, and features such as "Start Over" allow users to quickly reset the workspace without restarting the software.

Improved Print Preview

The enhanced print preview displays all pages side by side in a clear, scrollable view, making it easy to review multi-page jobs. Navigation controls allow quick movement between pages, while pixel-accurate rendering ensures precise alignment, colour accuracy, and layout verification before printing, reducing errors and improving confidence in output.

File & Templates Browser

The File & Templates Browser provides an organised overview of all loaded images and available templates, making it easy to manage projects efficiently. Users can preview, search, filter, and sort files based on criteria such as placement status or orientation, and quickly drag and drop images or templates into the layout, improving speed and workflow organisation.

Multiple Print Jobs at the Same Time

Mirage 5 allows users to create and manage multiple print jobs simultaneously, offering greater flexibility in busy production environments. Jobs can be prepared, paused, deleted, or reprinted independently, enabling users to prioritise urgent tasks without interrupting ongoing work.

"Undo/Redo" Function

The Undo/Redo feature allows users to reverse or reapply changes made to layouts or settings at any time, including manual positioning of images and adjustments within the settings dialog. Standard keyboard shortcuts can be used, and once a job is printed, the "Print" button changes to "Print Again" if no changes have been made, enabling quick and efficient reprints.

Improved Handling/Placement of Embedded Logos

Mirage 5 simplifies the integration of logos by allowing users to scale, position, and adjust them directly within the print preview using intuitive on-screen controls. By selecting the logo, users can access handles for precise placement, ensuring consistent branding without requiring additional design software.

New Tools for Image Editing

Mirage 5 includes a range of non-destructive image editing tools accessible within the software, allowing adjustments without altering original files. Features include Gaussian blur with pixel-accurate preview and drop shadow effects with adjustable opacity, direction, softness, offset, and colour. Additional tools such as auto colour, auto contrast, exposure, white balance, sharpening, and support for Photoshop filters enable precise control and professional-quality output.

New Print Mode "Only Black Ink"

For supported printers and media combinations, Mirage 5 offers an "Only Black Ink" mode that uses pure black ink instead of grey inks. This mode is ideal for producing high-contrast monochrome prints and specialised outputs requiring deep, consistent blacks, although availability depends on printer compatibility.

Settings Option "Simulation"

The Simulation feature provides advanced proofing capabilities, allowing users to simulate how a print will appear when output on a different printer. Located under the "Extra" tab, this function supports CMYK profiles available on the system, helping ensure colour accuracy and reducing the risk of costly printing errors.

Additional Print Marks

Mirage 5 enhances finishing precision with advanced print mark options, including the ability to inset crop marks to prevent unwanted white edges. The "Page Print Marks" feature allows marks to be applied across the entire layout rather than per image, with adjustable spacing to suit specific production requirements, ensuring accurate trimming and professional results.

Support for Current Operating Systems

Mirage 5 is fully compatible with modern operating systems including macOS Ventura, Windows 11, and current Adobe Creative Cloud versions, while also supporting Windows 10 and macOS High Sierra as minimum requirements. Built as a native 64-bit application, it delivers improved performance when handling large files and multiple jobs, along with support for advanced workflows, high-bit-depth processing, and professional colour management.
