Print Templates

Mirage 5 features advanced print templates designed for efficient and flexible image placement. Templates are made up of numbered slots-defined areas where images can be inserted, rotated, scaled, and layered. Slots can overlap partially or fully and be arranged in different stacking orders. Multiple slots can share the same number, meaning that placing an image into one slot automatically fills all matching slots, making it ideal for passport or application photo layouts. Users can also apply pixel or vector masks to control which parts of an image are visible in each slot. Any custom layout can be saved and reused as a template, ensuring consistency and saving time across projects.

Template Editor

The Template Editor in Mirage 5 provides powerful tools for creating customised, labour-saving templates. Users can select solid colours or import their own images as template backgrounds, adjust slot size and positioning via the Slot Frame settings, and control how images scale within slots using proportional or custom scaling options. Each slot can also have its own mask applied for precise image shaping. Designed with an intuitive workflow, the editor enables both simple and complex template creation, supporting efficient production in professional environments.

Free Layout of Files on the Spread

Mirage 5 allows complete freedom when arranging images on the print spread. Images can be moved independently, rotated, resized, and layered, with full support for overlapping elements. This flexibility enables the creation of collages, creative compositions, and multipage layouts such as photo albums. Any layout created can be instantly saved as a reusable template, allowing users to combine creative freedom with workflow efficiency.

Clear Program Interface

The redesigned Mirage 5 interface simplifies the printing workflow by replacing the old "Drop Files Here" window with an intuitive drag-and-drop Print Preview area. All functions are logically grouped within a streamlined menu bar, and the Mirage Job Archive is now fully integrated into the main interface, removing the need for a separate application. Users can easily reset the workspace using "Start Over," undo adjustments step by step, and manage files without restarting the program, resulting in a faster and more organised user experience.

Improved Print Preview

Mirage 5 introduces a clear, scrollable print preview that displays all pages side by side for easy visualisation. Users can quickly navigate through pages using intuitive controls to move forwards, backwards, or jump to the beginning or end. The pixel-accurate preview reflects all applied settings, ensuring precise alignment, layout accuracy, and confidence before printing multi-page or complex jobs.

File & Templates Browser

The File & Templates Browser provides an organised overview of all loaded images and available templates. Users can preview files, search and filter content based on criteria such as placement status or orientation, and quickly drag and drop items into the print layout. This improved browser enhances efficiency, particularly when working with large volumes of images or multiple templates in complex workflows.

Multiple Print Jobs at the Same Time

Mirage 5 enables users to create and manage multiple print jobs simultaneously. Each job can be prepared, paused, deleted, or reprinted independently, allowing users to prioritise urgent tasks without interrupting ongoing work. This functionality is especially valuable in professional print environments where flexibility and time management are essential.

"Undo/Redo" Function

The built-in Undo/Redo function allows users to reverse or reapply changes made to layouts or settings at any time using menu options or keyboard shortcuts. This includes adjustments made within the settings dialog or manual positioning of images. After a print job is completed, the "Print" button changes to "Print Again" if no modifications have been made, enabling quick and efficient reprints.

Improved Handling/Placement of Embedded Logos

Mirage 5 simplifies the integration of logos into print layouts. Users can freely scale, rotate, and reposition logos directly within the print preview using on-screen handles. This intuitive control ensures precise placement and professional branding without requiring external graphic design software.

New Tools for Image Editing

Mirage 5 includes powerful, non-destructive image editing tools within the application. Users can apply Gaussian blur through the Photo tab and evaluate results using the pixel-accurate preview. The Drop Shadow feature, located in the Extra tab, allows full control over opacity, direction, softness, offset, and colour using sliders and colour selection tools. These features enable high-quality visual enhancements directly within the print workflow.

New Print Mode "Only Black Ink"

For supported printers and media combinations, Mirage 5 offers an "Only Black Ink" mode that uses pure black ink without grey inks. This mode is ideal for producing sharp, high-contrast monochrome prints and is particularly useful for specific artistic or document printing applications.

Settings Option "Simulation"

The Simulation feature allows users to preview how prints will appear when produced on different printers by applying CMYK profiles. Accessible via the Extra tab, this proofing tool enables accurate colour simulation across devices, helping professionals maintain consistency and avoid costly print errors.

Additional Print Marks

Mirage 5 provides advanced control over print marks, including the ability to inset crop marks to prevent white overlaps. The "Page Print Marks" feature allows marks to be applied around the entire layout rather than individual images, with adjustable spacing for precise trimming. This ensures accurate finishing for complex layouts and professional print production standards.

Support for Current Operating Systems

Mirage 5 is fully compatible with modern platforms including macOS Ventura, Windows 11, and Adobe CC 2023, while also supporting Windows 10 and macOS High Sierra as minimum requirements. Built as a native 64-bit application, it delivers improved performance when handling large files and multiple jobs. Additional support includes LAB colour space, 16-bit image processing, Photoshop filter integration, droplet-based automation workflows, and compatibility with professional printers and custom media, ensuring reliability and future-ready performance.
