Leofoto FH-5L Professional Video Fluid Head

The Leofoto FH-5L Professional Video Fluid Head is a compact, precision-tuned video fluid head built for creators who need controlled pan and tilt for real-world video work. It's designed for filmmakers, videographers, and hybrid shooters working with mirrorless rigs, cinema cameras, and broadcast setups up to 7kg-ideal for travel, documentary, wildlife filming, interviews, and field production.

As part of the Leofoto heads lineup available through Leofoto Australia, the FH-5L pairs cleanly with Leofoto tripods and compatible support systems via its 73mm half-ball base, giving you fast levelling and a stable foundation for repeatable camera moves.

Performance & Benefits

For professional video, smooth motion matters as much as stability. The FH-5L uses a refined fluid damping system to deliver consistent resistance through pans and tilts, helping you start gently, track cleanly, and stop without bounce-especially important when shooting long-lens video or slow, deliberate moves.

Dial in your feel with 3-step pan drag + 0 and 3-step tilt drag + 0. This lets you match the head to your camera weight, focal length, and shooting pace, from run-and-gun coverage to controlled cinematic framing.

The 9-step counterbalance system (0-7kg) is built for repeatability. Once set, your rig stays neutral through the tilt range, reducing drift and operator fatigue and making it easier to hold composition during interviews, wildlife tracking, and multi-take work.

In challenging conditions, consistent performance keeps your workflow reliable. The FH-5L uses Japanese-made Nichimoly lubricants for dependable damping across -30°C to +60°C, supporting outdoor video and travel production where temperature shifts can affect cheaper heads.

For fast, secure mounting, the Arca-Swiss compatible quick release system supports a streamlined plate workflow across your tripod head, slider, or other support gear-perfect when you're moving between setups and need confidence in lockup.

Practical Details

Setup is straightforward: level quickly using the 73mm half-ball interface, confirm alignment with the built-in bubble level, then fine-tune drag and counterbalance to suit your camera. The result is a predictable feel that's easy to repeat when you return to the same rig or lens.

The FH-5L balances professional control with travel practicality. With an approximate height of 160mm and a weight of 1.72 kg, it's substantial enough for stable support while remaining manageable for location kits where packed weight matters.

The clamp is a press-and-release Arca-Swiss clamp with an automatic safety lock and push-button safety catch, helping you work quickly without compromising security. The included 90mm Arca-Swiss plate supports a clean, consistent quick release plate workflow across compatible heads and accessories.

Operator comfort is covered with a removable pan handle that mounts on either side, making the head easy to adapt for different shooting positions, tight spaces, or left/right-handed operation.
