Paired with the Leica Maestro IV processor, the camera supports DNG and JPG image formats with up to 14-bit colour depth for rich tonal gradation and professional imaging workflows. The absence of a low-pass filter helps maximise sharpness, while the integrated RGB colour filter and UV/IR filter contribute to accurate colour reproduction.

Advanced Image Stabilisation and Autofocus System

Built for precision shooting, the Leica SL3-P incorporates 5-axis image stabilisation with compensation of up to 5 stops, helping reduce the effects of camera shake during handheld photography. Its hybrid autofocus system combines contrast detection, depth mapping and phase detection technologies, supported by 819 phase-detection points and 315 contrast-detection points. Advanced subject recognition includes detection modes for humans, animals and vehicles, enabling reliable focus tracking across a wide range of shooting scenarios.

Professional Video Recording Capabilities

The Leica SL3-P supports professional-grade video production with recording options in Rec. 709 and Rec. 2020 colour spaces, including L-Log and HLG gamma profiles. Users can record in 8-bit or 10-bit formats directly to SD or CFexpress Type B media, while 10-bit output is available via HDMI 2.1. Recording times are determined by storage capacity and sensor temperature, with typical recording durations of approximately 20 minutes in 8K/30fps, 25 minutes in 6K/30fps and 30 minutes in 4K/30fps at 25°C.

High-Resolution EVF and Touchscreen Display

Composing and reviewing content is enhanced by a high-resolution electronic viewfinder featuring 5.76 million dots, refresh rates of up to 120fps and 100% frame coverage. The camera also includes a 3.2-inch touchscreen LCD with 2.33 million dots, anti-fingerprint coating and anti-scratch protection for intuitive operation. A 1.28-inch monochrome top display provides quick access to essential shooting information while maintaining excellent visibility in various lighting conditions.

Durable Construction and Professional Connectivity

Constructed from magnesium and aluminium with a leatherette covering, the Leica SL3-P features a robust full-metal body with IP54-rated protection against dust and splash water. The camera incorporates the Leica L-Mount with electronic communication contacts and provides extensive connectivity options including HDMI 2.1 Type-A, USB-C USB 3.1 Gen 2, microphone and headphone ports, a sync/timecode interface and an ISO accessory shoe with additional control contacts. Dual card support includes SD UHS-I/UHS-II and CFexpress Type B media for flexible storage workflows.

Reliable Power and Wireless Integration

Powered by the Leica BP-SCL6 lithium-ion battery, the SL3-P delivers up to 383 shots under standard CIPA testing conditions and up to 1,431 shots using Leica's adapted shooting cycle. Wireless connectivity includes Bluetooth 5.0 LE and WLAN compatibility through the Leica FOTOS app, enabling image transfer and remote camera functionality. USB-C charging is supported both during operation and when the camera is powered off, providing flexible power management for extended shooting sessions.

Leica Vario-Elmarit-SL 28-70mm f/2.8 ASPH. Lens (L-Mount)

A surprising combination of compactness, speed, and versatility, the Leica Vario-Elmarit-SL 28-70mm f/2.8 ASPH. is a sleek standard zoom for L-mount mirrorless cameras. Trading a bit of reach on the wide end of the zoom, compared to a conventional 24-70mm lens, this zoom instead manages to be especially small and lightweight while still offering a constant f/2.8 maximum aperture for excellent low-light performance and depth of field control. This portable zoom is ideal for everyday shooting and a range of subjects, including everything from landscapes, to portraits, to travel scenes.

Compact Performance

Designed as the most compact and lightweight standard zoom for the SL system, this lens covers a useful wide-angle to portrait-length range and retains an impressively bright f/2.8 constant maximum aperture.

Constant f/2.8 maximum aperture enables working in low-light conditions throughout the zoom range as well as benefits control over depth of field.

Optical design uses a trio of aspherical elements to improve sharpness and promote the more compact, portable lens design.

Updated lens coatings offer increased contrast and accurate colour rendering in a variety of lighting conditions.

Floating element in the lens design helps maintain consistent sharpness throughout the focusing range.

Quiet and fast focusing drive benefits both photographers and videographers; the focusing range also achieves a 1:3.3 maximum magnification from a 7.5" minimum focusing distance at the 28mm focal length position.

Durable Design and Intuitive Handling

In addition to its portable design, this lens is also built for use in a variety of conditions and sports a reliable physical construction.

Portable lens weighs 0.59 kg and measures 2.9 x 4"; this is more than an 0.23 kg weight savings compared to the Vario-Elmarit-SL 24-70mm f/2.8 lens while also being nearly an inch shorter.

Lens housing is built from magnesium and aluminium alloys and has a simple, minimalist design with dual control rings to adjust both focus and zoom positions.

Dust- and splash-proof design for working in inclement conditions and an Aqua-Dura hydrophobic coating has been applied to the front and rear elements.
