FAQs

What types of photography is the Fujifilm XC 15-45mm lens best suited for?

The Fujifilm XC 15-45mm f/3.5-5.6 OIS PZ lens is highly versatile, making it suitable for a range of photography styles. Its focal length of 15-45mm (equivalent to 23-69mm in 35mm format) is ideal for landscapes, portraits, and everyday photography. The wide-angle capability allows for capturing expansive scenes, while the standard zoom range is perfect for portraits and close-up shots.

How does the optical image stabilization work in this lens?

The optical image stabilization (OIS) in the Fujifilm XC 15-45mm lens provides up to 3 stops of correction for image blur caused by camera shake. This is particularly valuable when shooting handheld in low light conditions, as it allows for sharper images without needing to increase ISO settings or use a tripod.

Can this lens be used for video recording, and what features support that?

Yes, the Fujifilm XC 15-45mm lens is well-suited for video recording. It features a silent stepping motor autofocus system that ensures quick and quiet focusing, which is crucial for capturing clean audio without autofocus noise. Additionally, the electric zoom functionality allows for smooth zooming, enhancing the overall quality of video footage.

What advantages does the electric zoom feature offer?

The electric zoom feature of the Fujifilm XC 15-45mm lens provides convenience and versatility. When the camera is powered on, the lens automatically extends, making it ready for shooting. There are two different zoom speeds that can be selected, allowing for controlled and smooth zoom transitions, which are particularly beneficial for video work.

What are the close-up capabilities of this lens?

The Fujifilm XC 15-45mm lens offers impressive close-up capabilities, allowing you to focus on subjects as close as 5cm from the lens tip. This feature is excellent for capturing intricate details in food photography, flowers, or smaller accessories, achieving a maximum reproduction ratio of 0.24.

How does the lens perform in terms of chromatic aberration?

The lens is designed with two extra-low dispersion (ED) elements and three aspherical elements, which work together to minimise chromatic aberrations. This means you can expect increased sharpness and clarity throughout the image frame, resulting in high-quality photos with accurate colour representation.

What is the benefit of the rounded 7-blade diaphragm in this lens?

The rounded 7-blade diaphragm of the Fujifilm XC 15-45mm lens contributes to producing pleasing bokeh, which enhances the aesthetic quality of out-of-focus areas in your images. This feature is particularly useful when isolating subjects against blurred backgrounds, allowing for more artistic and visually appealing photographs.
