The ink cartridge is housed inside a carriage with a printhead that produces a tiny sized picolitre droplet of ink. The technology behind the image formation process with these types of cartridges is called thermal inkjet. The printhead nozzle section draws down ink from the cartridge and then uses some mini heating elements to expand and eject the ink out from these nozzles and onto the waiting page.
