Bushnell 12x50 Engage Black Roof Binoculars

Uniquely optimized for viewing across vast flat terrain such as the prairies of the American west, where the powerful magnification and wide field of view really shine, the Bushnell 12x50 Engage Binoculars are ideal for hunting and birding in the predawn and late dusk, when birds and game are most active.

To deliver peak performance, they are outfitted with extra-low-dispersion (ED) glass, broadband anti-reflection fully multi-coated optics, dielectric coated and phase-corrected BAK4 roof prisms, and protective exterior lens coatings that work together to maximize light transmission through the entire light path without colour fringing. The results are bright, sharp, and clear high-contrast views with accurate colour fidelity and crisp resolution across the entire visual spectrum. To further improve the observational experience, the Engage binoculars are designed with generous exit pupils and a wide 64° apparent angle of view that help to minimize distracting handshake that is common when holding powerful optics.

Bushnell built the Engage binoculars to make them easy and comfortable to hold and allow them to withstand the harshest elements. Their design provides an ergonomic and balanced feel in the hand that also provides the strength and stability required of workhorse binoculars like these. The optical tubes are nitrogen-filled and O-ring sealed to an IPX7 rating so they are waterproof and resistant to internal fogging if the weather turns or they take an accidental spill in a stream or puddle. Protecting the optical components is a rubber armour outfitted with textured palm pads that provide a sure and secure grip. Given the high power and oversized objectives, some users may experience excessive handshake or arm fatigue when holding the Engage for long periods. Knowing this, Bushnell outfitted the front of the bridge hinge with a threaded hole so the binoculars can be tripod mounted using an optional adapter for easy hands-free use.

Optical Performance

Powerful 12x magnification enables detailed observations of distant subjects

Large 50mm objective lens provides the light gathering capacity required to keep views crisp and bright when viewing targets at extreme distances and keeps views bright in challenging light conditions such as at dawn and dusk

Roof prism light path ensures the optical tubes remain as slim as possible for easier handling without affecting performance

ED Prime extra-low dispersion fluorite glass lens elements reduce chromatic aberrations for increased contrast and improved colour rendition and sharpness without fringing across the entire field of view

BAK4 prism glass delivers a round exit pupil and a crisp and clear image with limited edge distortion

PC3 phase-correcting prism coatings eliminate internal interference to improve colour and contrast

Dielectric prism coatings boost light throughput to 92% for minimal loss and diffraction

Index-matched broadband anti-reflection fully multi-coated optics are specifically engineered to match each lens element to further improve light transmission, contrast and colour fidelity across the entire visible spectrum

Proprietary EXO exterior lens coatings resist external fogging, scratches and abrasions while allowing oil, dirt, and sap to be cleaned off without leaving smudges or residue

Wide 64° apparent angle of view presents an immersive and panoramic observational experience with reduced appearance of the distracting hand-shake that is common when holding high-power optics

Spacious 280-foot field of view at 1000 yards

Use and Handling

Closed bridge design provides a solid and stable platform for the internal focus mechanism

Large slip-resistant centre focusing wheel is easy to manipulate in cold and wet weather, even while wearing gloves

Locking right-eye dioptric correction allows user to compensate for an optical prescription to produce sharper views without the risk of movement

Broad 53-72mm interpupillary distance adjustment range enables easy use by a wide variety of users from adolescents to adults

Twist-up click-stop eyecups for easy use with or without eyewear

Tripod mountable with an optional adapter for hands-free use to eliminate vibrations and arm fatigue

Comfortable 15mm eye relief reduces eyestrain, especially during long glassing sessions

4.1mm exit pupil will cover pupils as they open and dilate in low light to keep the whole scene in view without vignetting
