Tamron 12-20mm f/2.8 Ultra Wide Angle Lens

The optical design features a sophisticated arrangement of specialised elements, including one XGM (eXpanded Glass Molded Aspherical) and three GM (Glass Molded Aspherical) lens elements. This is further enhanced by one XLD (eXtra Low Dispersion) and three LD (Low Dispersion) lens elements to effectively suppress various aberrations, minimising peripheral blurring and colour fringing.

Tamron 12-20mm f/2.8 Ultra Wide Angle Lens

The optical design features a sophisticated arrangement of specialised elements, including one XGM (eXpanded Glass Molded Aspherical) and three GM (Glass Molded Aspherical) lens elements. This is further enhanced by one XLD (eXtra Low Dispersion) and three LD (Low Dispersion) lens elements to effectively suppress various aberrations, minimising peripheral blurring and colour fringing.

In particular, it effectively corrects sagittal coma flare, which is a common issue in nightscapes and astrophotography where point light sources appear distorted at the edges of the frame. By maintaining high sharpness from the center to the extreme corners, the 12-20mm F2.8 renders every single point of light with crystalline clarity.

AX (Anti-reflection eXpand) Coating

The 12-20mm F2.8 features AX Coating that achieves a uniform film thickness via vapor deposition across the entire surface of highly curved convex elements. This technology effectively suppresses harmful light, ensuring exceptionally clear and crisp image.

BBAR-G2 (Broad-Band Anti-Reflection Generation 2) Coating

The 2nd-generation BBAR-G2 Coating significantly minimises ghosting and flare, even in challenging backlit conditions. This results in high-contrast, vivid rendering with remarkable pop.

Enhanced Mobility for Landscapes - A Compact and Lightweight Design

The 12-20mm F2.8 achieves a sophisticated balance between uncompromising image quality and exceptional mobility. Through countless iterations of both optical and mechanical redesign, we have achieved a remarkably compact form factor - measuring just 119.3mm (4.7in) in length and weighing only 0.57 kg

By fine-tuning individual components at the micron level and conducting exhaustive durability testing, we have ensured that this 12- 20mm F2.8 meets the highest standards of strength and reliability. Whether you are trekking up a mountain or setting up for a night under the stars, this lens significantly lightens your load without sacrificing performance.

High-Speed, High-Precision, and Quiet Performance - Equipped with VXD Linear Motor Focus Mechanism

Featuring the VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive) linear motor focus mechanism, the 12-20mm F2.8 delivers high-speed and high-precision autofocus performance. Its exceptional responsiveness and agility - hallmarks of linear motor technology - ensure you never miss a critical moment.

Stunning Close-Up Performance - Unleashing the Dynamism of Ultra Wide-Angles

The 12-20mm F2.8 maintains exceptional close-range shooting capabilities throughout its zoom range, with an MOD (Minimum Object Distance) of just 0.18m (7.1in) at the 12mm wide end and 0.28m (11.1in) at the 20mm longer end. At its closest, you can get as near as 50mm (2in) from the front of the lens to your subject. This allows for powerful, dramatic expressions - capturing the foreground subject with exaggerated scale while sweeping in the vast background for a truly dynamic perspective.

Compatible with Tamron Lens Utility - Seamless Support for Video and Stills

The 12-20mm F2.8 is compatible with the dedicated Tamron Lens Utility application, allowing you to assign practical functions for both video and still photography directly to the lens. This eliminates the need for external video equipment or previously required complex setups, streamlining your creative workflow and expanding your shooting possibilities.

Mastery of Light - The Artistry of a 12-Blade Circular Diaphragm

The 12-20mm F2.8 features a 12-blade diaphragm, meticulously engineered for exquisite light rendering. When shooting near maximum aperture, it produces stunningly smooth, circular bokeh from point light sources. Furthermore, when stopped down for nightscapes and cityscapes, it creates sharp 12-pointed starburst effects, adding a touch of elegance to your image.

Evolution of Form - Introducing the "Toned Profile Next" Lens Design

The 12-20mm F2.8 introduces "Toned Profile Next," taking Tamron's signature "Toned Profile" design philosophy to the next level. The aesthetic has evolved from a "lean and muscular silhouette" into a "mechanical style that resonates with the preferences of modern users." This refined exterior combines a sleek, sophisticated look with the rugged functionality demanded by today's photographers.

Integrated Flower-Shaped Lens Hood

The 12-20mm F2.8 features a built-in, flower-shaped hood designed to effectively minimise flare and ghosting. By shielding the lens from stray light, it allows the optical system to deliver its maximum performance and clarity.

Locking Front Lens Cap

The dedicated lens cap features a secure locking mechanism. Designed to fit perfectly over the integrated hood, it ensures the lens remains protected and can be carried with total peace of mind.

Integrated Rear Filter Holder

The lens mount is equipped with a dedicated rear filter holder, allowing for the use of commercially available sheet-type filters. Users can simply cut a filter sheet to the required size and insert it into the holder for expanded creative control.

Included Soft Wrapping Cloth for Scratch Resistance

The 12-20mm F2.8 comes with a wrapping cloth to help protect the lens in your bag. The fabric features a self-gripping surface that adheres to itself, allowing you to fold it neatly around the lens to protect it from surface dust and scratches. It is compact and folds down easily when not in use, making it a convenient accessory for transport.
