Leveraging the power of a newly developed APS-C sensor, the Sony FX30 provides everyday content creators and aspiring filmmakers with a powerful, yet accessible cinema camera with which to push their cinematic journey to new heights. It blends an imaging pipeline designed for cinematic capture with a comprehensive feature set and intuitive operation to create a complete system for all levels of filmmaking.

26MP APS-C/Super 35 Exmor R BSI CMOS Sensor

The FX30's advanced imaging system is on par with other options in Sony's Cinema Line-capturing detailed 10-bit UHD 4K imagery at up to 120 fps-giving it specs fitting a true cinema camera. The newly developed 26MP APS-C Exmor R CMOS sensor and BIONZ XR processor are able to create high-quality 4K images with the Super 35 (16:9) area. This system is capable of capturing 14+ stops of dynamic range and benefits from Dual Base ISO architecture to improve low-light performance.

5-Axis In-Body Image Stabilisation

Sony has equipped the FX30 with a 5-axis in-body image stabilisation system that will help create smooth imagery even when working handheld. An Active Mode is available that blends optical systems with digital optimisations to capture ultra-smooth footage. The FX30 can also record gyro movement when the optical stabilisers are turned off, which can be used in post to create a stable shot.

Media Options

For recording high-bitrate footage at high frame rates, the FX30 uses an advanced, versatile set of media slots. The camera features dual CFexpress Type A/SD card slots, allowing users to select between different media types for different situations. CFexpress Type A has ultra-fast speeds that can be used for the FX30's most advanced recording functions, while SD cards are often more common and still have great speed and high capacities.

Ergonomic Form for Solo Operation

Lightweight and compact, the FX30 (in a design that matches the FX3) offers users the ability to shoot without needing a cage. Users can also enjoy smooth handheld footage thanks to a 5-axis in-body image stabilisation system.

Extensive Connectivity for Professional Production

The FX30 is equipped with a wide range of connectivity options designed to maximise flexibility and customisation on set. A full-size HDMI output supports clean 4K 60p output along with 16-bit RAW video for advanced external recording workflows. Audio connectivity includes both a 3.5mm headphone output and a 3.5mm microphone input for professional sound monitoring and recording. The USB-C port enables high-speed data transfer and camera power delivery, while the Multi-Terminal Micro-USB connection supports compatible accessories such as remote controls for expanded functionality. Timecode synchronisation is also supported using the optional VMC-BNCM1 Timecode Adapter Cable, and the Multi Interface Shoe allows compatibility with advanced accessories including the optional XLR Handle Unit.

Sony E 10-20mm f/4 PZ G Lens

A lens built with the hybrid shooter in mind, the Sony E 10-20mm f/4 PZ G is a lightweight and versatile ultra-wide-angle APS-C zoom ideally suited for vlogging and content creation needs. Featuring Power Zoom, intuitive handling, and advanced optics, this portable go-to lens excels at daily shooting applications and the updated autofocus performance also brings it up to speed for stunning video production capabilities.

Optimised for Video and Vlogging

Designed specifically for content creators and vloggers, this lens delivers smooth and reliable video performance. The electronically controlled internal Power Zoom mechanism allows seamless zoom transitions during recording and can be controlled via the lens barrel, compatible camera bodies, or optional accessories. Its internal zoom and focus design maintains a stable centre of gravity, making it ideal for handheld shooting and gimbal setups. Smooth Motion Optics technology also helps suppress focus breathing for more consistent framing during focus changes.

High-Quality G Series Optics

The ultra-wide 15-30mm equivalent focal length range provides excellent versatility for selfie-style vlogging, landscapes, and everyday recording. A constant f/4 maximum aperture maintains consistent brightness throughout the zoom range while supporting a compact design. Three aspherical elements, two ED elements, and one ED aspherical element work together to minimise distortion, chromatic aberrations, and spherical aberrations for sharp, clear imagery with accurate colour reproduction. A circular diaphragm also helps produce smooth, natural-looking bokeh.

Fast and Precise Autofocus Performance

Equipped with a dual Linear Motor system, the lens delivers fast, quiet, and accurate autofocus performance suitable for both stills and video. Linear Response MF provides a more natural manual focusing experience, while the AF/MF switch enables quick mode changes directly from the lens barrel. Internal focusing further improves responsiveness and keeps the lens length consistent during use. The lens also supports close-up shooting with impressive minimum focusing distances for detailed subject capture.

Lightweight and Creator-Friendly Design

Compact and lightweight, the lens weighs approximately 0.18 kg and measures just 5.6 cm in length, making it ideal for travel, handheld shooting, and everyday content creation. The dust- and moisture-resistant construction adds reliability when working outdoors or in changing weather conditions. Dedicated controls including the Power Zoom lever and zoom ring provide intuitive operation, while compatible Sony Alpha cameras support custom zoom ring rotation settings and remote zoom control through optional accessories or linked smartphones.
