The Alpha 7 V combines the latest innovations in imaging technology with cutting edge features from the flagship Alpha range to provide a new "standard" camera that's anything but standard. Combining a brand-new 33 Megapixel partially stacked CMOS sensor with the completely new BIONZ XR2 processor, the Alpha 7 V delivers unprecedented performance for both stills and video, achieving performance that rivals flagship models in some areas while still maintaining extraordinarily generous battery life and thermal performance spec.

Designed to satisfy a wide range of Alpha photographers from professionals seeking an all around performer to passionate amateurs who want to step up to the next level of performance, the Alpha 7 V provides a feature set that excels in a wide range of shooting situations.

Exceptional Quality

Stills-focused shooters can look forward to a new level of robustness and clarity with 16 stop dynamic range on the Alpha 7 V. This colossal depth of colour gives the camera's RAW files a level of robustness that can stand up to even the most extreme adjustments in post editing, perfect for the most exacting photographers.

Upgraded Image Stabilisation System

The Alpha 7 V utilises an upgraded 5-axis in-body image stabilisation system which delivers up to 7.5-step stabilisation. An updated stabilisation algorithm paired with a high-precision gyro sensor provides precise detection and control right down to the single-pixel level, ensuring crisp and clear images, even on longer lenses at dawn and dusk.

4-axis Multi-angle LCD Monitor

The Alpha 7 V utilises the same 4-axis multi angle LCD monitor system previously seen on the Alpha 7R V flagship models. The design can be freely adjusted in nearly any direction, providing excellent operability even in the most challenging situations.

AI-Enhanced Autofocus

Newly integrated on the BIONZ XR2 chip, the Alpha 7 V's AI autofocus functions provide the same human pose estimation and subject detection options as the Alpha 1 II. Autofocus performance is also upgraded, with 60 AF samples per second ensuring crisp, consistent focus even when shooting at 30 frames per second.

Powerful Video Capture

Boasting minimal rolling shutter thanks to its new fast-reading partially-stacked Exmor RS CMOS Sensor, the Alpha 7 V provides outstanding quality and reliability for video as well as stills. 4K 60p full-frame is downscaled from 7K capture, ensuring exceptional detail, and the full suite of Sony recording options including All-I, 10-bit and log recording are onboard. As a result, the Alpha 7 V is ready to capture anything from professional A-roll to backyard memories. Even slow-motion capture is supported, with a 4K 120p capture mode from APS-C.

Sony FE 16-35mm f/2.8 GM II Lens (Sony E)

The Sony FE 16-35mm f/2.8 GM II combines a bright constant f/2.8 aperture with an advanced optical design to deliver high resolution, clarity, and bokeh quality throughout the zoom range. Its optical construction includes one Super ED element, two ED elements, and five aspherical elements, including three XA (extreme aspherical) elements, which work together to minimise chromatic aberrations, colour fringing, spherical aberrations, distortion, and onion-ring bokeh.

Designed for both stills and video applications, the lens provides consistent image quality across the frame while maintaining the versatility of a wide-angle zoom range in a compact design.

Enhanced Autofocus and Close-Up Performance

The redesigned focusing system utilises four XD (extreme dynamic) linear motors for faster, quieter, and more precise autofocus performance compared to the previous generation. The lens supports shooting at up to 30 fps with full AF tracking, maintains focus while zooming, and delivers reliable performance when tracking fast-moving subjects.

A floating focus mechanism helps maintain image quality throughout the focusing range and enables a minimum focusing distance of 8.6 inches with a maximum magnification of 0.32x across the entire zoom range. The internal focusing design also helps maintain a consistent centre of gravity while providing responsive focusing performance.

Video-Focused Design and Durable Construction

The FE 16-35mm f/2.8 GM II incorporates features designed specifically for video production, including reduced focus breathing, focus shift, and axial shift during zooming for improved compositional accuracy. It also supports Breathing Compensation on compatible cine-line and Alpha cameras, while Linear Response MF provides intuitive manual focus control.

Approximately 20% lighter and 10% smaller than its predecessor, the lens features a manual aperture ring that can be de-clicked for silent operation or locked in the 'A' position for camera-controlled aperture adjustment. Additional controls include two programmable focus hold buttons and a focus mode switch. A dust- and moisture-resistant design, with rubber gaskets and a sealed lens mount, helps protect the lens when working in challenging weather conditions.

Sony FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM II Lens (Sony E)

Designed to rival the primes, this zoom's optics have been revamped to provide even greater resolution, clarity, and bokeh quality. A bright f/2.8 constant aperture enables shooting in dim lighting conditions while maintaining a shallow depth of field.

The optical construction includes two ED (extra-low dispersion) and two Super ED elements to suppress chromatic aberrations and colour fringing for improved clarity and colour fidelity. Five aspherical elements, including two XA (extreme aspherical) elements, help minimise spherical aberrations, distortion, and reduce onion-ring bokeh. Nano AR Coating II controls flare and ghosting, supported by a new optical design that reduces internal reflections. An 11-blade aperture diaphragm produces smooth, circular bokeh at all aperture settings.

Autofocus and Close-Up Performance

The redesigned focusing system delivers faster focusing performance, improved close-up capability, and enhanced control. Four XD (extreme dynamic) linear motors provide significantly improved autofocus performance compared to the predecessor's DDSSM system, delivering faster, quieter, and more precise AF for both photo and video use.

The system supports shooting at up to 30 fps with full AF maintained, even when shooting stopped down, and allows focus tracking while changing zoom position. A floating focus mechanism maintains image quality throughout the focusing range, with a minimum focusing distance of 8.3 inches at 24mm or 11.8 inches at 70mm, and a maximum magnification of 0.32x at the 70mm position. Internal focusing design helps maintain consistent lens length during operation.

Video Features, Handling, and Build

Focus breathing, focus shift, and axial shift during zooming are all minimised to reduce unwanted movement and angle-of-view variation during recording. The lens supports Breathing Compensation on select cine-line and Alpha cameras, and its XD linear motors are designed for quiet operation during video recording. Linear Response MF enables natural manual focus control.

A manual aperture ring can be de-clicked for silent operation or used in the 'A' position for camera-controlled aperture adjustment, while zoom smoothness can be adjusted by changing the torque. The lens includes two programmable focus hold buttons, a focus mode switch, and a zoom smoothness switch.

The design is among the smallest and lightest f/2.8 standard zooms available, approximately 22% lighter and 18% smaller than its predecessor. It features a hybrid construction using metal and plastic components, a dust- and moisture-resistant design with rubber gaskets at each seam and a sealed lens mount, and maintains professional handling with a manual aperture ring, focus controls, and adjustable zoom torque.

The Sony FE 70-200mm F2.8 GM M2 Lens features an advanced optical design built for high resolution and clarity across the entire zoom range, even at its maximum f/2.8 aperture. Its construction includes 17 elements in 14 groups, featuring one XA (extreme aspherical) element, one aspherical element, and one ED aspherical element to maintain sharpness and control distortion throughout the frame.

It also incorporates two ED (extra-low dispersion) elements and two Super ED elements to significantly reduce chromatic aberration and colour fringing, ensuring high colour fidelity and clean image rendering. Nano AR Coating II and fluorine coatings further help minimise flare and internal reflections, supporting consistent image quality in challenging lighting conditions.

Autofocus Performance, Stabilisation, and Build

The lens is equipped with Quad XD Linear Motors that deliver fast, precise, and quiet autofocus performance, with significantly improved speed compared to the previous generation. This enables reliable subject tracking and smooth focusing behaviour, making it suitable for both photography and video applications.

Optical image stabilisation is included with multiple levels to help reduce camera shake during handheld shooting and video recording. The lens is designed with dust- and moisture-resistant sealing for durability in outdoor environments, supporting use across a wide range of shooting conditions while maintaining professional reliability.
