An all-arounder that pushes beyond basic, the Sony a7 IV does double duty with strong stills and video performance. An advanced hybrid mirrorless camera, the a7 IV has the resolution and AF performance that appeals to photographers along with robust 4K 60p video recording for filmmakers and content creators.

33MP Exmor R BSI CMOS Sensor

Newly developed 33MP Exmor R BSI CMOS full-frame sensor features a back-illuminated design that promotes high clarity, low noise, and vivid colour rendering. This design benefits working in low-light conditions and works in conjunction with a broad sensitivity range of ISO 100-51200. The sensor's design also achieves an impressive dynamic range of approximately 15 stops and files can be recorded in raw, JPEG, or the 10-bit HEIF format.

BIONZ XR Processor

Using the flagship-class BIONZ XR engine, high-speed image processing capabilities are available for fast continuous shooting, 4K video recording, and advanced AF tracking performance. The quick processing also helps to reduce rolling shutter and other motion distortions for clean rendering of moving subjects.

In terms of shooting speeds, the sensor and processor enable up to 10 fps shooting, using either the mechanical or electronic shutter and with AF/AE enabled. Also, the buffer permits recording up to 828 consecutive uncompressed raw + JPEG frames when using a CFexpress Type A card.

AI-Based Autofocus

Covering approximately 94% of the image area, a Fast Hybrid AF system incorporates 759 phase-detection points for quick and precise focusing in a variety of lighting conditions with sensitivity down to -4 EV. This focusing system is available for use in all recording modes, to benefit both video and stills applications.

Advanced External Flash Control

Suiting working with flash while photographing fast-moving subjects, P-TTL flash metering is possible in between each exposure when working with lo, mid, or even hi-speed continuous shooting modes. This helps to maintain stable illumination if making low-light bursts and greatly benefits working in changing light or low-light conditions. The updated flash control system also helps to reduce flash trigger lag, uses the camera's AWB information for natural colour rendering, and supports adjusting select flash and transmitter units directly from the camera's interface.

5-Axis SteadyShot INSIDE Image Stabilisation

The enhanced 5.5-stop effective 5-axis SteadyShot INSIDE image stabilisation system delivers reliable compensation for five types of camera shake during handheld stills and video shooting, enabling sharp results even when using adapted or third-party lenses. Pitch and yaw correction improve stability when shooting at long focal lengths, while horizontal and vertical shift compensation benefits macro and high-magnification photography. Roll compensation further enhances stability across all shooting styles, and all five stabilisation axes remain active even with lenses featuring built-in optical stabilisation. For video creators, the dedicated Active IS mode provides even more precise stabilisation for smoother handheld footage directly from the camera.

Wireless Connectivity and Streaming

Built-in Wi-Fi supports remote camera control, instant image sharing, and wireless tethered shooting with both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz band compatibility, making it easy to transfer content directly to mobile devices or online platforms. Bluetooth connectivity enhances stability when using the Imaging Edge mobile app for seamless camera control and file management, while support for Visual Story enables fast cloud-based delivery of photos and videos immediately after capture. The camera also functions as a high-quality USB webcam, allowing direct live streaming to a computer or compatible mobile device with support for 4K 15p, Full HD 60p/30p, and HD 30p output. Internal recording to a memory card during streaming is supported, and built-in Creative Look and Soft Skin effects help produce refined visuals straight from the camera. Support for UVC and UAC standards further improves video and audio quality for livestreaming and video conferencing applications.

Sony FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM II Lens (Sony E)

A refined take on the fast standard zoom, the Sony FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM II is not only smaller and lighter than the previous generation, it also features a variety of optical, focusing, and handling upgrades, catering to both photo and video applications, that make this the most well-rounded G Master zoom to date.

Exceptional G Master Optical Quality

Designed to rival prime lenses, this G Master zoom delivers outstanding resolution, clarity, and refined bokeh quality across the entire zoom range. Its bright constant f/2.8 aperture excels in low-light conditions while providing beautiful shallow depth of field control for creative shooting. The advanced optical design includes two ED and two Super ED elements to effectively suppress chromatic aberrations and colour fringing, while five aspherical elements including two XA elements minimise distortion and unwanted onion ring bokeh. Nano AR Coating II further reduces flare and ghosting for improved contrast and clarity, and the 11-blade aperture diaphragm creates smooth, circular bokeh at all aperture settings.

Fast Autofocus and Advanced Video Performance

The redesigned focusing system delivers faster, quieter, and more precise autofocus performance through the use of four XD Linear Motors, making the lens ideal for both photography and video production. Fast-moving subjects can be tracked accurately at up to 30 fps, with autofocus maintained even when shooting stopped down or zooming during operation. A floating focus mechanism maintains exceptional image quality throughout the focusing range, supporting close-up shooting with a minimum focusing distance of just 8.3 inches at 24mm and a maximum magnification of 0.32x at 70mm. For video creators, focus breathing, focus shift, and axial shift during zooming have all been minimised for smoother and more accurate cinematic recording, while Linear Response MF and a de-clickable aperture ring provide precise and intuitive manual control.

Compact, Durable, and Built for Professional Use

Among the smallest and lightest f/2.8 standard zoom lenses available, this model combines professional durability with impressive portability. Approximately 22% lighter and 18% smaller than its predecessor, it remains highly versatile for a wide variety of shooting applications. The hybrid metal and plastic construction balances strength with reduced weight, while the dust- and moisture-resistant design includes extensive sealing for dependable performance in challenging weather conditions. Additional professional features include two programmable focus hold buttons, a focus mode switch, adjustable zoom ring torque settings, and a fluorine-coated front element that resists water, oil, and contaminants for easier cleaning. The included lens hood also features a locking button and filter window for convenient adjustment of rotating filters such as polarisers and variable ND filters.
