Product Overview

The NiSi S6 150mm Filter Holder Adapter Ring is designed to enable the use of a NiSi S6 150mm Filter Holder System on a Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8G lens. The use of the S6 filter holder is easily accomplished by first sliding the adapter ring over the integrated hood of a lens and tightening. The adapter ring accommodates a NiSi S6 Circular Filter for NiSi S6 including a Circular Polarizer and UV filter. When combined with the adapter ring, a compatible polarizer filter can be rotated to adjust its effect. Both the external dials on the adapter ring allow for the independent rotation of the circular polarizer. A NiSi S5 150mm Filter Holder can then be placed over the adapter ring. After being fitted onto the adapter ring, the filter holder's pull-and-release locking pin helps to provide a reliable, yet adjustable connection that allows the filter holder to be rotated 360°, permitting the use of graduated neutral density and other filters that are enhanced by varied positioning. For durability, this adapter ring features an aluminium alloy construction. The adapter allows very quick installation and removal without removing the lens from the camera. Already own the NiSi S6 Holder Kit? Simply add this adaptor to make it compatible with the Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8G lens.

FAQs

What types of filters can I use with the NiSi S6 150mm Filter Holder Adapter Ring?

The NiSi S6 150mm Filter Holder Adapter Ring is designed to accommodate NiSi S6 Circular Filters, including options such as Circular Polarizers and UV filters. These filters enhance your photography by allowing you to manage reflections, improve colour saturation, or protect your lens. Ensure you have the appropriate S6 holder to utilise 150x150mm or 150x170mm filters alongside this adapter.

How does the adapter ring facilitate the use of a polariser filter?

The adapter ring allows for the independent rotation of the circular polariser via external dials. This feature enables you to adjust the polariser's effect without needing to remove the filter holder from your lens. This is particularly useful for achieving the desired level of reflection reduction or sky contrast in your images.

Can I use this adapter ring with other lens brands or models?

This specific adapter ring is tailored for the Tamron SP 15-30mm f/2.8 G2 lens. While NiSi does produce a variety of adapter rings for different lenses, compatibility is crucial. If you have another lens, you will need to check for a specific adapter designed for that lens model to ensure proper fit and functionality.

Is the installation process for the adapter ring straightforward?

Yes, the installation process is designed to be both quick and easy. Simply slide the adapter ring over the integrated hood of your lens and tighten it securely. This means you can attach or detach the adapter without needing to remove the lens from your camera, which is a significant advantage for photographers in dynamic shooting environments.

What materials are used in the construction of the adapter ring, and how does that affect durability?

The NiSi S6 150mm Filter Holder Adapter Ring is made from high-quality aluminium alloy. This material choice not only contributes to the lightweight nature of the adapter but also enhances its durability and resistance to wear and tear. Photographers can rely on this robust construction, especially when working in challenging outdoor conditions.

Can I use this adapter with the previous generation S5 filter system?

While the adapter is designed specifically for the S6 system, it can be used with the S5 filter holder. However, it is important to note that when using this adapter with the S5 system, you must ensure that you are using S5 circular filters to maintain compatibility and achieve optimal performance.

What is the benefit of the pull-and-release locking pin feature in the filter holder?

The pull-and-release locking pin feature allows for a secure yet adjustable connection between the filter holder and the adapter ring. This mechanism provides the ability to easily rotate the filter holder 360 degrees, which is essential for positioning graduated neutral density filters or other filters to achieve the desired effect in your compositions.
