Product Overview

The NiSi S6 150mm Filter Holder Adapter Ring is designed to enable the use of a NiSi S6 150mm Filter Holder System on a Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8G lens. The use of the S6 filter holder is easily accomplished by first sliding the adapter ring over the integrated hood of a lens and tightening. The adapter ring accommodates a NiSi S6 Circular Filter for NiSi S6 including a Circular Polarizer and UV filter. When combined with the adapter ring, a compatible polarizer filter can be rotated to adjust its effect. Both the external dials on the adapter ring allow for the independent rotation of the circular polarizer. A NiSi S5 150mm Filter Holder can then be placed over the adapter ring. After being fitted onto the adapter ring, the filter holder's pull-and-release locking pin helps to provide a reliable, yet adjustable connection that allows the filter holder to be rotated 360°, permitting the use of graduated neutral density and other filters that are enhanced by varied positioning. For durability, this adapter ring features an aluminium alloy construction. The adapter allows very quick installation and removal without removing the lens from the camera. Already own the NiSi S6 Holder Kit? Simply add this adaptor to make it compatible with the Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8G lens.

FAQs

What types of filters can be used with the NiSi S6 150mm Filter Holder Adapter Ring?

The NiSi S6 150mm Filter Holder Adapter Ring is designed to work with NiSi S6 Circular Filters, including circular polarizers and UV filters. When paired with the appropriate S6 Holder, it can also accommodate 150x150mm and 150x170mm filters, allowing for a versatile range of creative possibilities.

How does the installation process of the adapter ring work?

Installing the NiSi S6 adapter ring is straightforward. Simply slide it over the integrated hood of your Sigma 20mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art lens and tighten it securely. This design allows for quick installation and removal without needing to detach the lens from the camera, making it convenient for photographers on the go.

Can I use this adapter with other lens brands or models?

The NiSi S6 150mm Filter Holder Adapter Ring is specifically designed for the Sigma 20mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art lens. While it may physically fit on other lenses with a similar hood design, it is not guaranteed to provide the same level of functionality or compatibility with filters and holders. For optimal results, it is recommended to use the adapter with the specified lens.

What is the benefit of using a circular polarizer with this adapter ring?

Using a circular polarizer with the NiSi S6 adapter ring allows for enhanced control over reflections and glare, as well as improved saturation of colours in your images. The independent rotation dials on the adapter ring enable you to adjust the polarizer's effect easily, providing the flexibility to achieve the desired results in varying lighting conditions.

Is the adapter ring durable enough for outdoor use?

Yes, the NiSi S6 150mm Filter Holder Adapter Ring is constructed from high-quality aluminium alloy, ensuring it is both lightweight and durable. This material choice makes it suitable for outdoor photography, where it can withstand the rigours of travel and use in various environmental conditions.

What should I be aware of when using this adapter with the older S5 system?

If you are using the NiSi S6 adapter ring with the previous generation S5 filter holder system, it is essential to use S5 circular filters to ensure compatibility. Mixing S6 filters with the S5 holder may lead to improper fitting and functionality, so always check the filter compatibility to avoid any issues.

Can I stack filters when using the NiSi S6 adapter ring?

While it is technically possible to stack filters, it is generally not recommended as this can lead to issues such as vignetting, decreased image quality, and increased lens flare. It is advisable to use only the necessary filters for your shot to maintain optimal image clarity and performance.
