Product Overview

The NiSi S6 150mm Filter Holder Adapter Ring is designed to enable the use of a NiSi S6 150mm Filter Holder System on a Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8G lens. The use of the S6 filter holder is easily accomplished by first sliding the adapter ring over the integrated hood of a lens and tightening.  The adapter ring accommodates a NiSi S6 Circular Filter for NiSi S6 including a Circular Polarizer and UV filter. When combined with the adapter ring, a compatible polarizer filter can be rotated to adjust its effect. Both the external dials on the adapter ring allow for the independent rotation of the circular polarizer. A NiSi S5 150mm Filter Holder can then be placed over the adapter ring. After being fitted onto the adapter ring, the filter holder's pull-and-release locking pin helps to provide a reliable, yet adjustable connection that allows the filter holder to be rotated 360°, permitting the use of graduated neutral density and other filters that are enhanced by varied positioning. For durability, this adapter ring features an aluminium alloy construction. The adapter allows very quick installation and removal without removing the lens from the camera. Already own the NiSi S6 Holder Kit?  Simply add this adaptor to make it compatible with the Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8G lens.

This is the adapter only and is compatible with the Circular S6 filters.  It requires an S6 Holder to work with 150x150mm or 150x170mm filters.

FAQs

What are the benefits of using the NiSi S6 150mm Filter Holder Adapter Ring with my Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8G lens?

The NiSi S6 150mm Filter Holder Adapter Ring allows you to effectively use the NiSi S6 filter system with your Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8G lens, enhancing your photographic capabilities. It enables the use of various filters such as graduated neutral density filters and circular polarizers, which can dramatically improve your landscape photography by controlling light and enhancing colours. The adapter's design also allows for easy adjustment and rotation of filters without having to remove the lens, providing convenience and flexibility in your shooting.

How does the installation of the adapter ring affect the lens performance?

The NiSi S6 adapter ring is specifically designed to fit over the integrated hood of the Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8G lens, ensuring that there is minimal impact on the lens's performance. The aluminium alloy construction is lightweight yet durable, maintaining the lens balance while allowing for the use of filters that can enhance image quality. As long as the adapter is properly installed, it should not introduce vignetting or other optical issues, allowing you to capture sharp, high-quality images.

Can I use other brands of filters with the NiSi S6 adapter ring?

The NiSi S6 150mm Filter Holder Adapter Ring is designed for use with NiSi S6 circular filters. While it is technically possible to use other brands of filters, it is not recommended as compatibility and performance cannot be guaranteed. To achieve the best results, it is advisable to use filters specifically designed for the NiSi S6 system, which ensures optimal fit and function.

Is the adapter ring easy to remove and reattach during a shoot?

Yes, one of the standout features of the NiSi S6 adapter ring is its quick installation and removal process. The design allows you to attach or detach the adapter without needing to remove the lens from your camera body. This feature is particularly beneficial during shoots where time is of the essence, allowing you to switch between filters or remove the adapter quickly when not needed.

What types of photography benefit the most from using this filter holder adapter?

The NiSi S6 150mm Filter Holder Adapter Ring is particularly beneficial for landscape, seascape, and architectural photography. Photographers working in these genres often face challenging lighting conditions, and the ability to use graduated neutral density filters helps balance exposures between the sky and land. Additionally, circular polarizers enhance colour saturation and reduce glare from reflective surfaces, making them ideal for capturing vibrant landscapes and water scenes.

How do I properly maintain my NiSi S6 adapter ring to ensure longevity?

To maintain your NiSi S6 adapter ring, regularly clean it with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust and fingerprints. Avoid using abrasive materials that could scratch the surface. Store the adapter in a protective case when not in use to prevent damage. Additionally, ensure that the connection points are free of debris before attaching or detaching the adapter, as this will help maintain a secure fit and prevent any potential wear over time.
