Product Overview

The NiSi Cinema 6.6×6.6” Allure Streak BLUE (2mm) is a special effects filter designed to render a single light ray from a point light source. This filter features a single series of etched lines spaced 2mm apart from each other, which run across the filter surface. The filter creates the effect of elongated blue streaks horizontally from the light source usually seen when using an Anamorphic type of lens. When the filter is rotated, the orientation of the light ray can be adjusted to suit your composition or desired effect. The filter is constructed from clear optical-grade glass H-K9L for maintained image clarity.

FAQs

What type of photography is the NiSi Cinema Allure Streak BLUE filter best suited for?

The NiSi Cinema Allure Streak BLUE filter is particularly effective for creative photography and cinematography where you want to achieve a dramatic look. It's well-suited for portrait, fashion, and product photography, as well as music videos and short films where a striking visual effect is desired. The elongated blue streaks produced by the filter can enhance the overall mood and aesthetic of your images.

How does the rotation of the filter affect the light streaks in my images?

The filter features etched lines that can be rotated to adjust the orientation of the blue light streaks. This means you can tailor the effect to fit your composition precisely. By rotating the filter, you can control the angle and position of the streaks, allowing for creative flexibility in how light interacts with your subjects.

Can I use this filter with any lens, or are there specific lenses recommended?

While the NiSi Cinema Allure Streak BLUE filter can be used with a variety of lenses, it is recommended for focal lengths of 35mm and longer. This is to ensure that the streak effect is rendered correctly and to avoid any lens deformation that might occur with shorter focal lengths. Anamorphic lenses work particularly well with this filter, enhancing the streak effect.

What is the advantage of using optical-grade glass in this filter?

The use of optical-grade glass, such as H-K9L, ensures that the NiSi Cinema Allure Streak BLUE filter maintains high image clarity and quality. It prevents any distortion or loss of detail, ensuring that the original colour and contrast of your images remain intact. This is crucial for professional photographers and videographers who require precision in their work.

How should I care for and maintain this filter to ensure its longevity?

To maintain the NiSi Cinema Allure Streak BLUE filter, it's important to keep it clean and free from scratches. Use a microfiber cloth to gently wipe the surface and avoid using harsh chemicals. Store the filter in a protective case when not in use to prevent damage. Ensuring the filter is free from dust and fingerprints before use will also help maintain image quality.

What creative effects can I achieve with the blue streaks produced by this filter?

The blue streaks can add a dynamic element to your images, creating a sense of movement and drama. They are especially effective in highlighting bright points of light, such as streetlights or reflections, and can give a cinematic feel to your photos or videos. The streaks can also enhance the emotional tone of a scene, making it feel more vibrant or ethereal.
