The EL-5 Ver.2's only change from the original EL-5 is an extended 2.4GHz radio transmission range of up to approximately 50m (up from approx. 30m), giving photographers more room to position off-camera flash units as sender or receiver.

Compatible camera models may require a firmware update to operate the EL-5 Ver.2. Transmission range may be shorter depending on Speedlite positioning, the surrounding environment and weather conditions.
