The FX6 Full-Frame Camera from Sony was developed to offer versatile, cine-style imaging in a truly compact form. With the ability to capture up to 15+ stops of dynamic range, Sony's S-Cinetone gamma for filmlike skin tones, and up to 10-bit, 4:2:2 XAVC-I recording, the FX6 is poised to both supplement your FX9 or VENICE capture and to nimbly take on documentary, gimbal, and drone shoots on its own.

4K Full-Frame Exmor R Sensor

The FX6 camera combines a 4K full-frame Exmor R sensor with a BIONX XR engine for extremely sensitive capture in a range of settings, using a base ISO of 800 as well as an ISO 12800 high-sensitivity mode for nuanced low-light scenes. This 10.2 MP image sensor features back-side illumination for excellent low-light performance, 627 focal plane points for speedy phase-detection autofocus, and full-frame lens compatibility that produces a rich, immersive look. The sensor's fast scan speed minimises rolling shutter artifacts and supports high frame rates and quick autofocus responses.

Compact, Single-Operator Design

Weighing just under 0.907 kg, the FX6 body is a full 0.907 kg lighter than the FX9 and measuring 6 x 4.6", it packs a full-frame sensor into a body comparable to the S35-sensor Sony FS5. While the FX6 fits seamlessly into a pro-cine on-set workflow, it also offers several features that are a boon for a single-operator user. These include fast and accurate phase-detection autofocus with both Face Detection and real-time Eye autofocus, both auto and manual ND filter settings for quick exposure compensation, and a 3.5" LCD monitor that boasts time-saving touchscreen access to key menu settings and versatile positioning for comfortable operating. In addition to improving the camera's overall stability, firmware update v1.10 adds 100p and 120p options to the Slow and Quick Motion frame rate menu when the codec is set to RAW or RAW and XAVC-I.

Cinema Line Imaging Performance

As a member of Sony's Cinema Line, the FX6 shares core imaging technologies with higher-end models such as the VENICE and FX9, including a full-frame sensor, professional colour science, and advanced recording capabilities. The camera captures up to 15+ stops of dynamic range when using Cine EI mode with S-Log3, delivering exceptional detail in highlights and shadows. Dual base ISO settings of 800 and 12,800 provide outstanding flexibility across a wide range of lighting conditions, while an extended maximum ISO of 409,600 enables reliable low-light performance. The inclusion of S-Cinetone, S-Log3, S-Gamut3, and S-Gamut3.Cine profiles ensures cinematic colour reproduction and seamless integration into professional Sony workflows.

Professional Recording and High Frame Rates

The FX6 supports DCI and UHD 4K recording at up to 120 fps and Full HD capture at up to 240 fps, providing extensive creative options for slow-motion and fast-action production. As the first compact full-frame Sony camera to offer UHD 4K 4:2:2 recording in the XAVC-I codec, it combines exceptional image quality with efficient file management. Users can choose from a variety of XAVC Intra and XAVC Long recording formats with bitrates ranging from 35 to 600 Mb/s. Integrated electronically variable ND filters allow exposure adjustments from 1/4 to 1/128 density without affecting shutter speed or depth of field, making the camera particularly versatile for changing lighting conditions.

Advanced Autofocus and Workflow Enhancements

A sophisticated Fast Hybrid Autofocus system utilises phase-detection technology for rapid and highly accurate focusing, even in challenging lighting conditions. Features such as Face Detection and Eye AF improve subject tracking reliability, while customisable transition speed and sensitivity controls allow operators to tailor autofocus behaviour to specific shooting requirements. Compatibility with Sony's Catalyst Browse and Catalyst Prepare software enables metadata-based image stabilisation, automatic horizon correction, and streamlined post-production workflows. Firmware updates further enhance usability with expanded monitoring tools, improved autofocus performance, LUT management, and support for external Blackmagic RAW recording via HDMI.

Robust Design and Professional Connectivity

Constructed around a lightweight magnesium alloy chassis, the FX6 is designed to withstand demanding production environments while efficiently dissipating heat for extended recording sessions. The 3.5-inch touchscreen LCD provides intuitive control over key settings, while updated sealing around buttons, seams, and interfaces improves dust and moisture resistance. Professional connectivity includes 12G-SDI output, HDMI output, timecode input and output, dual XLR audio inputs, integrated Wi-Fi, and support for up to four channels of audio recording. The camera also accommodates both CFexpress Type A and SDXC memory cards, offering flexible media options for a variety of recording formats and frame rates.

Modular Design and Flexible Operation

The FX6 features a highly adaptable modular design that can be configured for handheld, gimbal, drone, or studio production environments. Its compact body can be paired with optional accessories such as Sony's smart grip and smart handle for enhanced operational control, while the repositionable LCD monitor supports a wide range of shooting styles. Built-in Wi-Fi connectivity enables remote monitoring and camera control through compatible mobile devices using Sony's Content Browser Mobile application. This combination of portability, professional functionality, and flexible configuration makes the FX6 an ideal solution for documentary, broadcast, commercial, and cinematic production workflows.

Sony FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM II Lens (Sony E)

A refined take on the fast standard zoom, the Sony FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM II is not only smaller and lighter than the previous generation, it also features a variety of optical, focusing, and handling upgrades, catering to both photo and video applications, that make this the most well-rounded G Master zoom to date.

G Master Optical Excellence

The Sony FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM II builds on the renowned G Master legacy with a refined optical design that delivers exceptional sharpness, clarity, and bokeh quality throughout the zoom range. Its constant f/2.8 aperture provides outstanding low-light performance and precise depth of field control for both photography and video. The optical construction incorporates two ED elements, two Super ED elements, and five aspherical elements, including two XA elements, to minimise chromatic aberrations, distortion, and onion-ring bokeh. Nano AR Coating II further enhances image quality by reducing flare and ghosting, while the 11-blade circular aperture produces smooth, natural-looking background blur.

High-Speed Autofocus and Video Performance

A redesigned focusing system featuring four XD Linear Motors delivers significantly faster, quieter, and more accurate autofocus performance than the previous generation. The lens supports continuous shooting at up to 30 fps while maintaining reliable focus tracking, even during zooming. A floating focus mechanism preserves image quality across the entire focusing range and enables impressive close-up capabilities, with a maximum magnification of 0.32x at 70mm. Video creators benefit from reduced focus breathing, focus shift, and axial shift during zooming, helping to maintain stable compositions and professional-looking footage. Compatibility with Breathing Compensation on select Sony cameras, along with Linear Response MF and a de-clickable aperture ring, further enhances video-focused operation.

Compact Professional Design

Despite its advanced capabilities, the FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM II remains one of the smallest and lightest standard zoom lenses in its class. Approximately 22% lighter and 18% smaller than its predecessor, it offers outstanding portability without compromising durability. The lens features two programmable focus hold buttons, a focus mode switch, and an adjustable zoom torque control with Smooth and Tight settings for customised handling. Its hybrid metal and engineering plastic construction balances strength and weight, while extensive dust and moisture sealing ensures dependable performance in challenging conditions. A fluorine-coated front element resists water, oil, and fingerprints for easier maintenance, and the supplied lens hood includes a locking button and filter adjustment window for convenient use with rotating filters.
