An ideal everyday companion, the Sony FE 28-70mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS II is a standard zoom full-frame lens covering a useful wide-angle to portrait-length range within an especially compact and lightweight profile. Version II of this ultra-versatile zoom sees updated AF for high-speed shooting while retaining the efficient optical design, useful image stabilisation, and durable weather-resistant build of its predecessor.

Upgraded Autofocus

The key upgrades in Version II of this lens relate to autofocus, including a focusing system that now supports AF-C while continuous shooting with AF/AE tracking at up to 120 fps. This is ideal for the fastest burst shooting and high-speed/slow-motion video recording.

For more dynamic focus and zoom pulls, this lens also now supports AF tracking while zooming.

An internal focus mechanism and linear motor contribute to faster, more responsive performance and easier handling.

Image Stabilisation and Design

Optical SteadyShot image stabilisation helps to minimise the appearance of camera shake for sharper imagery when shooting handheld with slower shutter speeds. This stabilisation system can be combined with select camera's sensor-shift type image stabilisation for more effective control of camera blur.

Dust- and moisture-sealed design better permits working in inclement conditions and rubberised control rings benefit handling in colder temperatures.

Optical Design

One extra-low dispersion glass element is featured in the lens design to help reduce chromatic aberrations and colour fringing for improved clarity and colour neutrality.

Three aspherical elements are incorporated in the lens design to reduce astigmatism, field curvature, coma, and other monochromatic aberrations.

Rounded seven-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing bokeh quality when employing selective focus techniques.
