Combining advanced imaging technology with intelligent autofocus and AI-driven subject recognition, the camera is designed to handle everything from high-speed action photography to professional video work and daily content creation. Its newly developed 33MP partially stacked Exmor RS CMOS full-frame sensor delivers faster readout speeds, reduced rolling shutter, and outstanding image quality with up to 16 stops of dynamic range, while also supporting a native ISO range of 100-51200 and a top electronic shutter speed of 1/16,000 second.

Powerful Processing and High-Speed Shooting

At the core of the a7 V is the advanced BIONZ XR2 processor, which incorporates a dedicated AI processing unit to enhance autofocus accuracy, colour reproduction, and white balance consistency. The increased processing power enables blackout-free continuous shooting at up to 30 fps with full-time autofocus and auto exposure tracking. Additional performance-focused features include Pre-Capture recording, which buffers images before the shutter is fully pressed, and Speed Boost functionality that allows photographers to instantly switch to higher continuous shooting frame rates when capturing fast-moving action. Flexible RAW recording options include compressed HQ RAW, lossless compressed RAW, and lightweight RAW formats, along with Composite RAW functionality for creating high-quality HDR images with reduced noise.

Advanced Stabilisation and AI Autofocus

The upgraded five-axis in-body image stabilisation system provides up to 7.5 stops of compensation in the centre of the frame and 6.5 stops at the edges for improved handheld shooting stability. Autofocus performance has also been significantly enhanced through the inclusion of Sony's AI Processing Unit and a 759-point phase-detection AF system covering approximately 94% of the sensor area. Intelligent subject recognition can accurately detect and track humans, animals, birds, insects, vehicles, trains, and aircraft, while Real-time Eye AF and human pose estimation improve focus precision for portraiture, sports, and event photography. The camera can even maintain focus on a selected subject when other people move in front of the frame.

Professional Video Recording Capabilities

The a7 V offers advanced video recording features designed for professional content creation. Full-width 7K oversampled UHD 4K 60p recording delivers highly detailed footage with impressive realism, while Super 35 recording enables high-speed UHD 4K 120p and Full HD 240p capture for cinematic slow motion. Efficient internal heat dissipation supports extended recording sessions, while Dynamic Active stabilisation combines electronic correction with in-body stabilisation for smoother handheld footage. Video creators also benefit from support for Breathing Compensation, AI-powered Framing Stabiliser functionality, internal 24-bit audio recording, and up to four-channel audio capture with compatible external microphones.

Advanced Colour Science and Monitoring

Sony's professional colour science gives creators extensive control over their visual style and post-production workflow. S-Cinetone delivers natural skin tones, soft colours, and refined highlight rendering inspired by Sony's Cinema Line cameras, while S-Log3 enables capture of more than 15 stops of dynamic range for greater flexibility during colour grading. Users can also import LUTs through Creators' Cloud for accurate monitoring while recording. A redesigned four-axis multi-angle LCD combines the flexibility of a vari-angle display with the convenience of a tilting screen, while the 3.68m-dot OLED electronic viewfinder delivers bright, detailed viewing with support for smooth 120 fps playback.

Durable Design and Extensive Connectivity

Built for demanding professional use, the a7 V features a lightweight yet durable magnesium alloy chassis with improved grip rigidity and enhanced weather sealing for reliable operation in challenging environments. Dual memory card slots include one CFexpress Type A and SD UHS-II compatible slot alongside a second SD UHS-II slot for flexible storage management. Connectivity options include full-size HDMI, dual USB-C ports for simultaneous charging and data transfer, headphone and microphone ports, and a Multi Interface Shoe for advanced audio accessories. Built-in Wi-Fi with 5 GHz and 6 GHz support, Bluetooth connectivity, wireless tethering, and 4K webcam compatibility make the camera exceptionally versatile for modern workflows, live streaming, and rapid content sharing.

Sony FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM II Lens (Sony E)

The Sony FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM II is a refined and highly versatile standard zoom lens designed for both photographers and video creators. Smaller and lighter than its predecessor, this next-generation G Master lens combines exceptional portability with professional optical performance and advanced handling improvements. Its bright constant f/2.8 aperture delivers excellent low-light capability and shallow depth of field control, making it ideal for everything from portraits and events to cinematic video production.

Exceptional Optical Quality and Smooth Bokeh

Designed to rival prime lenses, the optical system has been extensively upgraded to deliver even greater sharpness, clarity, and bokeh quality throughout the zoom range. The advanced construction includes two ED elements, two Super ED elements, and five aspherical elements including two XA elements to minimise chromatic aberrations, distortion, and unwanted onion ring bokeh. Nano AR Coating II further reduces flare and ghosting by minimising internal reflections, while the rounded 11-blade aperture diaphragm produces smooth, circular bokeh with natural background separation at all aperture settings.

Fast Autofocus and Video Optimisation

A redesigned focusing system featuring four XD Linear Motors delivers significantly faster, quieter, and more precise autofocus performance for both stills and video applications. The lens supports reliable tracking of fast-moving subjects at up to 30 fps while maintaining autofocus performance during zooming and stopped-down shooting. A floating focus mechanism helps maintain exceptional image quality throughout the focusing range and supports impressive close-up performance with a maximum magnification of 0.32x at the 70mm position. Video-focused enhancements include reduced focus breathing, focus shift, and axial shift during zooming, along with support for Breathing Compensation on compatible Sony Cinema Line and Alpha cameras. Linear Response MF and a de-clickable aperture ring further enhance precise cinematic control.

Compact Design and Professional Handling

Among the smallest and lightest f/2.8 standard zoom lenses available, the FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM II is approximately 22% lighter and 18% smaller than the previous generation while retaining a durable weather-sealed design for professional use in demanding conditions. A hybrid metal and plastic construction balances durability with portability, while extensive dust- and moisture-resistant sealing improves reliability outdoors. Additional handling features include two programmable focus hold buttons, a focus mode switch, and a zoom smoothness switch for adjusting zoom ring torque between Smooth and Tight settings. The fluorine-coated front element resists water, oil, and contaminants for easier cleaning, and the included lens hood features a locking button and filter window for convenient adjustment of rotating filters such as polarisers and variable ND filters.
