The Sky-Watcher SynEye 662C is a compact colour CMOS camera built around the Sony IMX662 sensor, designed primarily as an autoguiding and Electronically Assisted Astronomy (EAA) camera for use alongside a main imaging or visual setup.

The IMX662's STARVIS 2 back-illuminated design delivers low read noise and high quantum efficiency even at short exposures, which suits the fast, high-frame-rate capture that autoguiding and live-stacked EAA views rely on. A dedicated auto-guiding port allows the camera to talk directly to a compatible mount for closed-loop guide corrections, while the ASCOM driver keeps it compatible with the major planetarium, guiding and capture packages already used by SynScan and third-party astro software.

Beyond autoguiding, SynEye is also useful for building a pointing model to improve GoTo accuracy across the sky, and for casual electronically-assisted observing where a live, stacked view of a faint target is preferable to a single eyepiece view. The removable IR/UV-cut filter and dual M42/1.25" interface make it straightforward to fit into an existing guide-scope or off-axis-guider train.
