SkyWatcher HAC200 DX Catadioptric Astrograph

The HAC200 DX is an astrograph in the truest sense - designed for the camera, not the eyepiece. Its Honders advanced catadioptric photographic optical system puts 200mm of aperture behind an f/2 focal ratio, a combination that gathers light at a rate very few telescopes can match.

At f/2, exposures that would take a conventional f/8 instrument an hour are done in minutes. That changes what is practical from a suburban backyard or a single night under dark sky faint outer galaxy halos, dim nebulosity and broad structure come through in sessions short enough to finish before the target sets. The 400mm focal length gives a wide field, and the optics deliver a 30mm pinpoint image circle.

Focus is at the back end of the tube, where the focus knob falls to hand with a camera attached - no reaching over the front of the tube in the dark. Both M42 x 0.75 and M48 x 0.75 camera threads are provided, and the tube runs on DC 12V with an optional motorised focus motor for remote and automated sequences.
