Ricoh GR IV Digital Camera (Black)

The Ricoh GR IV is a premium compact camera from the acclaimed GR series, engineered for photographers who demand professional-grade performance in a portable package. Combining exceptional image quality, rapid responsiveness, and a sleek, lightweight design, this camera is perfect for capturing fleeting moments with precision. Its robust feature set caters to both enthusiasts and professionals, delivering versatility and reliability in a body that fits comfortably in your hand or pocket.

Superior Image Quality

At the heart of the GR IV lies a newly developed APS-C-size back-illuminated CMOS sensor with approximately 25.74 effective megapixels, paired with the advanced GR ENGINE 7 imaging engine. This combination delivers images rich in detail, gradation, and colour fidelity. With a maximum sensitivity of ISO 204800, the camera excels in low-light conditions, producing clean images with minimal noise, thanks to the Ricoh-original accelerator unit that optimises the signal-to-noise ratio. Whether shooting in dim environments or bright daylight, the GR IV ensures stunning clarity and dynamic range.

Super-Slim High-Performance Lens

The GR IV features a newly designed GR LENS 18.3mm F2.8, equivalent to 28mm in the 35mm format, offering a perfect balance of wide-angle versatility and sharpness. Comprising seven elements in five groups, including glass-moulded aspherical lenses and high-refraction, low-dispersion glass, this lens minimises distortion and chromatic aberration while delivering edge-to-edge sharpness and high contrast. Its slim design keeps the camera’s profile compact, making it an ideal companion for street and travel photography.

Advanced Shake Reduction and Autofocus

Equipped with a five-axis Shake Reduction (SR) mechanism, the GR IV compensates for camera shake by up to six shutter steps for pitch, yaw, and roll, and four steps at the edges, ensuring sharp images during handheld or macro shooting. The autofocus system is equally impressive, with a lightning-fast 0.6-second start-up time, high-speed lens driving, and an optimised image-plane phase-matching system for precise focusing, even in low-light conditions. Switching to macro mode or storing the lens is seamless, enhancing the camera’s quick-shooting capabilities.

Compact and Durable Design

Crafted from high-rigidity magnesium alloy, the GR IV measures approximately 109.4mm wide, 61.1mm high, and 32.7mm deep (lens at 31.3mm, body at 24.5mm), weighing just 262g with battery and memory card. The redesigned body features a contoured thumb grip for a secure hold and a dial-type mode adjustment lever for intuitive operation. Customisable controls, including front and rear e-dials, exposure compensation button, ADJ dial, and Fn button, allow for a tailored shooting experience, while the slim profile ensures portability without sacrificing durability.

Versatile Exposure and Creative Modes

The GR IV offers flexible exposure options, including Program AE with a new Program Auto Ex function for instant shifts to Aperture-Priority or Shutter-Priority AE via the dials. The Snap Distance-Priority AE mode enhances depth-of-field control for dynamic snapshots. For creative expression, the Image Control function includes 12 modes, such as a new Cinema mode with yellow or green tones for a nostalgic film-like aesthetic, alongside Monotone, High-contrast B&W, Negative Film, Positive Film, Bleach Bypass, and more. Adjustable parameters like saturation, hue, contrast, grain effect, strength, and size, plus savable custom modes, allow for personalised visual styles.

Seamless Connectivity

With dual Bluetooth and wireless LAN connectivity, the GR IV integrates effortlessly with smartphones and tablets via the dedicated GR WORLD app. This enables smooth image transfers, remote shutter release, and location data syncing, streamlining your workflow. The 3.0-inch high-definition LCD monitor, with approximately 1,037,000 dots and air-gapless construction, ensures excellent visibility outdoors, with an Outdoor Monitor Setting that auto-adjusts brightness or allows manual tweaks for optimal viewing in any lighting condition.

Additional Features and Accessories

The GR IV is packed with practical features, including an enhanced Dust Removal II mechanism with ultrasonic vibrations and an anti-stain coating on the UV/IR-cut filter for cleaner images. It supports Full HD movie recording at 1920x1080 pixels up to 60fps in H.264 format, in-camera RAW development for JPEG output with adjustable parameters, and a generous 53GB internal memory alongside microSD card compatibility. Crop modes simulate 35mm (15M) or 50mm (7M) angles in 35mm equivalent, while the optional GW-4 Wide Conversion Lens with GA-3 adapter extends to a 21mm ultra-wide angle. The camera is also compatible with the GF-2 super-compact flash unit for dedicated lighting.

Power and Accessories

The rechargeable DB-120 battery delivers approximately 250 shots per charge under CIPA standards at 23°C, with the optional BJ-120 charger enabling simultaneous recharging of two batteries. Enhance the camera’s aesthetics and handling with accessories like the GN-3 ring cap, GK-2 hotshoe cover, and GS-4 finger strap. With support for multiple file formats, including RAW (DNG 14-bit) and JPEG in various aspect ratios, plus hybrid autofocus modes like auto-area, zone, select, pinpoint, tracking, and face/eye detection, the GR IV is a versatile tool for capturing stills and movies with unmatched precision.

HD LCD Monitor with Outstanding Outdoor Visibility

The Outdoor Monitor Setting function assures outstanding visibility in both bright outdoor and dark indoor locations. This function also features the new Auto setting, which automatically adjusts the monitor’s brightness level based on the lighting condition of the given location.
