Profoto L1600D Daylight Mono-LED Light Kit

Continuing their venture into the high-end LED market, Profoto proudly relaunches its first Mono-LED by introducing the L1600D Daylight Mono-LED Light Kit. The brand carefully listened to the demands of professional filmmakers, e-commerce studios, and content creators to reintroduce the L1600D at a competitive price point without compromising performance. The L1600D arrives with hardware enhancements, but still features state-of-the-art LED technology meticulously thought out for the highest demands of production and cinema lighting. Combining efficiency and advanced attributes, the L1600D is focused on superior light quality with an all-in-one, ballast-free IP54-rated body.

Experience the purest quality of light with 5600K CCT, multiple control methods, and dual mounting options for the most extensive array of Profoto and Bowens modifiers. The unit's ballast-free ergonomic design translates into a huge time-saving solution and more freedom on set. Its power, size, and weight are all worthwhile attributes for any professional lighting setup needing reliable, speedy operation. The L1600D is now stronger, smarter, and made for a broader range of professionals as a highly bright 1600W LED point-source that can fit in tighter spaces on set.

Improvements

Keeping the most striking traits of the previous L1600D, Profoto made some changes and relevant improvements to the L1600D's light head, which includes: a reinforced front plate, an internal reflector for optimized optical performance, better Bowens S-mount fitting and locking pin, as well as a heavy-duty front tube that also enables improved optical performance. Additionally, this light has no heat or cooldown time and was developed to be more energy efficient and reduce power consumption, making this Profoto's first LED flash mode available with zero recycle time for hybrid workflows and lighting comfort in photoshoots.

Your Go-To Light

The L1600D's characteristics stand out in the Profoto Mono-LED category as a 1600W LED designed replace a traditional 1.8K HMI. Now, 13 kg may seem heavy for a compact light, but when you remember that it doesn't require a ballast and how much light you'll get from it when compared to similar fixtures, the weight is justifiable. The L1600D outputs up to 12,500 lux with its included MaxiZoom reflector, and can reach an impressive 45,000 lux when using the optional Boost reflector, both within a considerable distance of 16.4'. By expanding the L1600D's output, the optional Boost reflector offers significantly increased brightness for a long throw of light.

Mono-LED Technology

Delivering the lighting quality that Profoto is known for, the L1600D has the advantages and conveniences of a powerful continuous light source. Intended for use in various environments, this 1600W point-source LED fixture will give you accurate colours, and most importantly, exceptional flicker-free brightness at any frame rate. Profoto's unique Active HydroCTech liquid cooling system handles heat from the LED and its power electronics, ensuring longevity and silent operation.

The Purest of Light

Developed to suit both video and stills, expect the reliability and precision from Profoto's trusted standard in professional lighting with the L1600D's high CRI 95, TLCI 97, and SSI 74 ratings as indicators of superior performance and accuracy in colour rendering-meaning natural skin tones. With a fixed 5600K CCT, light control is provided by precise 0.1 to 100% dimming without introducing flicker. 16-bit dimming down to 0.1% ensures precise control and smooth transitions. Linear, Exponential, Logarithmic, and S dimming curves make sure colour rendering is as accurate as possible regardless of your chosen intensity.

Intuitive & Advanced Control Methods

The L1600D has been built to naturally integrate into the filmmaker's workflow, increasing productivity. Advanced control is one of the highlights of this fixture. The unit builds upon the remarkable quality of Profoto products and combines features that make it more versatile and easy to use than ever. The settings are adjustable with an intuitive onboard user interface. Elegant, minimalist local controls are combined with a clear screen display to facilitate onboard adjustments. The L1600D offers wireless connectivity with the Profoto Air and the Profoto Control app from up to 328' away. The fixture also provides DMX 5-pin XLR in/out connectors and wireless CRMX to give lighting technicians and programmers complete control over its operation.

Profoto Control Desktop App

The brand adds the free Profoto Control Desktop app to expand your control options and enable fast, precise, and consistent adjustments. The app provides seamless control over your Profoto light right from your Mac computer-improving any studio workflow and lighting setup whether you're working with a single light or multi-light setups. The Profoto Control Desktop app offers features such as the ability to save and reuse custom presets, independent control of up to six lighting groups, tethering integration, and firmware updates.

Unparalleled Light-Shaping Options

One of this light's greatest conveniences is its ability to take both Profoto and Bowens mount optional accessories, a major characteristic that allows you to combine the light with a broad number of separately available modifiers. Dual mounting options allow users to choose between Profoto's proprietary mount or standard Bowens for almost endless light-shaping possibilities. The brand includes the Bowens to Profoto mount adapter in the box. A yoke featuring swivel functionality allows 180° tilt down, even with modifiers mounted. The L1600D significantly reduces setup time, so gaffers and DPs have more time to focus on their creative vision.

IP54 Rating & Active HydroCTech Cooling

The physical design is IP54-rated weather resistant to withstand dust and water splashes, and its built-in fans run extremely quiet. Don't worry about overheating thanks to Profoto's Active HydroCTech liquid cooling technology. The HydroCTech system protects the LED and its electronics, safely reducing heat and maintaining optimal performance. Because of this technology, it was possible to integrate the power unit right into the light head, creating what the brand calls an "unparalleled power to size/weight ratio" that facilitates setting up and breaking down the gear on set. It is worth emphasizing that the internal fans are quiet enough for shooting video content in sound-sensitive environments.

AC Power & Convenience

Self-contained with no required external power supplies or devices, the L1600D is ready for worldwide use via its 100-240 VAC power supply. Mains power is possible using the included 23' long powerCON cable. The integrated power supply means no bulky, heavy floor unit is required, so placing the L1600D on an optional stand is simple. In terms of convenience, the L1600D comes with a mains cable, a MaxiZoom reflector, a safety cable, and a carry bag for transportation. Firmware updates are possible using the Profoto Control app or via USB-C service port.
