Leofoto X Mountain Forged Juggernaut S3 Carbon Fibre Tripod with MA-40SXO Head

The Leofoto x Mountain Forged Juggernaut S3 Carbon Fibre Tripod with MA-40SXO Head is a purpose-built heavy duty tripod for precision shooting, spotting, and demanding field use. Designed for PRS competition, long-range hunting, tactical applications, and observation work, this Leofoto tripod combines oversized carbon fibre leg construction with a dedicated rifle-support head for stable, repeatable performance under load.

For Australian shooters who need a professional tripod that packs more compactly than many full-size systems without giving away rigidity, the Juggernaut S3 stands out. Its 3-section inverted leg design, upgraded LQ Urban Apex, and included MA-40SXO ball head create a stable support platform for rifles, optics, thermal systems, and spotting scopes in real-world terrain.

Performance & Benefits

Stability is the defining strength of the Juggernaut S3. Its massive 44.7mm, 40mm, and 36mm Toray 10-layer carbon fibre leg tubes are engineered to minimise flex and reduce vibration, helping maintain a more consistent sight picture and faster target reacquisition. For shooters running heavier rifle setups or large optics, that added rigidity translates into more confidence behind the gun and more repeatable support in the field.

As a carbon fibre tripod, the S3 also offers the vibration-damping advantages shooters want when recoil control and sight recovery matter. Compared with bulkier metal systems, the carbon fibre construction helps keep weight manageable while preserving the locked-in feel expected from a serious professional tripod.

The included MA-40SXO ball head is tuned for precision rifle use, with a large 40mm ball for stronger lockup and smoother controlled movement. Its low-profile design keeps the rifle closer to the tripod apex, reducing leverage and improving balance. This makes the system easier to manage during target transitions, positional shooting, and uneven field setups.

The dual-rail clamp adds practical versatility for modern rifle platforms. With support for both Arca-Swiss compatible rails and Picatinny interfaces, the head fits neatly into existing support workflows. Fine tension adjustment for Arca rails, a dedicated Picatinny locking knob, and six additional security screws help deliver a secure, repeatable connection when recoil and movement are factors.

Leofoto's patented pull-down tripod locking system and proven X-Series angle stop design further improve confidence in use. Once deployed, the tripod locks in with a reassuringly solid feel, while single-handed angle adjustment makes it easier to adapt quickly to barricades, steep ground, prone positions, or awkward shooting angles without slowing down your workflow.

Practical Details

The Juggernaut S3 is designed to balance transportability with full-size working height. Thanks to its compact 3-section inverted leg layout, it folds to 84.5cm while still extending to 168.7 cm. That makes it easier to carry and pack than many large-format shooting tripods, while still giving users the height needed for standing observation or supported shooting.

Setup is fast and straightforward. The heavy-duty LN rubber twist locks require only a 1/4-turn for extension and locking, which is especially useful when moving between stages, changing positions, or setting up quickly in changing field conditions. The 3-section design also keeps deployment simpler than higher-section tripods, with fewer joints to manage when speed and rigidity are priorities.

In practical use, the three selectable leg angles of 24°, 55°, and 85° give the tripod a wide operating range. You can work from a low 54.6cm position, a mid-height 111.3cm setup, or full extension depending on terrain and shooting style. That flexibility is valuable for prone work, seated glassing, barricade support, or standing use with spotting equipment.

The included head supports an efficient clamp workflow for shooters already using Arca-Swiss clamp or Picatinny-based mounting. Extra-long 5-inch steel foot spikes can be swapped in when more grip is needed on mud, loose dirt, rock, or snow, while the supplied rubber feet suit harder surfaces and general transport. Altogether, it is a field-ready Leofoto tripod system built for stable support and reliable handling in demanding outdoor conditions.
