Georges Events, Classes and Workshops!
Georges Cameras is Sydney’s independent camera store and education hub, established in 1981. We run hands-on photography and videography workshops, talks, demos and community events designed to help you shoot with more confidence, whether you’re a beginner, hobbyist or working professional.
Our events cover the skills that actually move the needle: lighting (flash and continuous), portrait and studio technique, Lightroom and editing workflows, video production and colour grading, audio, rigging and cinema setups, plus real-world shooting sessions like street, events and reportage. We work closely with leading brands including Canon, Sony, Nikon, Fujifilm, Profoto, DJI, Tilta and more, so you can try gear properly and learn from industry specialists.
Based at Georges Cameras Chatswood and our Sydney CBD store, with select off-site sessions across Sydney. Browse our upcoming events below and book your next workshop.
Frequently asked questions about our events
-
Most events run at Georges Cameras Chatswood or in our Sydney CBD store. Some sessions are held at partner studios or external venues. The location is always listed on the ticket page.
-
Yes, as long as you choose the right session. Some workshops are beginner-friendly, while others are aimed at intermediate or professional creators. The event listing will clearly say who it's for.
-
Not usually. Many workshops are brand-agnostic and the skills transfer across systems. If an event is brand-led (for example, Sony, Canon, Nikon), we can answer technical questions best for that system, but you're still welcome to attend with other gear unless stated otherwise.
-
It depends on the format. Some sessions are demonstration-first (you watch a pro shoot and explain the decisions). Others include hands-on shooting time. The listing will specify what to expect.
-
Bring your camera, a charged battery, a memory card, and any lenses mentioned in the event listing. For editing workshops, bring your laptop, charger, and the required software installed.
-
Sometimes. Certain events have loan units or demo gear available, but availability is limited. If the listing offers loan gear, follow the instructions (usually emailing ahead). For demo gear, bring your own memory card if you want to test.
-
Many workshops include a PDF cheat sheet, course notes, or a resource pack. If included, it will be mentioned in the event description.
-
If you can't make it, contact us as soon as possible. Where we can, we'll help with a transfer to a future session or a refund in line with the ticketing terms for that event.

Follow Georges Cameras on social and check this page regularly. We also announce new workshops via our newsletter and event updates.
