The new high-powered BIONZ XR processing engine works with an advanced AE algorithm to detect the skin area of faces and adjust exposure accordingly for both stills
and movies. This achieves consistent exposure control even in challenging shooting conditions when the subject is backlit, in shadow or over-illuminated in direct sunlight.

The advanced BIONZ XR processing engine delivers up to 8 times faster processing power than its predecessor. It minimises processing latency while boosting movie and still image processing power.

AI Processing chip

With its innovative AI Processing unit, the A7C II can accurately recognise human movement. The human pose estimation technology uses a skeleton-based model, enabling it to precisely recognise not just eyes but also body and head positions. It can even lock on and track a subject facing away from the camera or with their face partially obscured

Wide-area, high-density AF offers speed and precision

The A7C II achieves notably improved AF performance through the immense processing speed and power of the BIONZ XR engine and updated algorithms. It uses 759 phase-detection points in a high-density array that cover approximately 94% of the image area when shooting stills, enabling it to recognise your subject even when they only occupy a small area of the frame.

Controls for smooth, efficient shooting

The A7C II features a new Still/Movie/S&Q dial, allowing fast, independent selection. Its conveniently located next to the mode dial, which can then be used to easily select the exposure mode and other key settings for each shooting mode.

Advanced 5-axis and 7.0 step image stabilization

Handheld shooting for stills got even better, thanks to the A7C II’s high-precision image stabilization unit, advanced gyro sensors and optimised image stabilization algorithms that effectively correct camera shake, achieving 7.0-step stabilization. Compatible lenses with built-in image stabilization combined with improved synchronisation between the body and lens to provide even more stable framing.

Creators’ App

Connect your A7C II to your smart device to control the camera, and transfer images or videos. Use the app to start recording videos or as a monitor to check framing and focus. Videos captured vertically will be imported in vertical format and ready for sharing on social media. 

Live-stream

Connect the camera to any Windows or Mac computer to begin conference calls or to stream on your favourite social media platform. The A7C II supports UAC and UVC protocols, which transfers audio and video simultaneously, eliminating the need for a separate microphone.
