Nikon 18 X 70 IF WP WF Nature Watching Binoculars

Engineered for wide-field astronomy such as enjoying stunning views of the moon, picking out your favourite constellations, comet hunting, satellite spots, or watching for iridium flares, the Nikon 18x70 Astroluxe Binoculars are an ideal companion for dark and starry nights.

The Astroluxe is outfitted with relatively low magnification to ensure a generous field of view for easier viewing—especially when holding them by hand. The traditional Porro prism light path presents a rich depth of field while producing a naturally balanced and comfortable feel in the hand. To enhance the view, Nikon utilizes winged eyecups that conform to your face, keep stray ambient peripheral light from interfering with the view and causing distractions, and increase contrast and clarity.

The chassis' ergonomic feel is complemented with textured armour to further improve grip security. Both optical tubes are nitrogen-filled to be waterproof and resistant to the internal fogging that can occur when moving from the inside of a warm house to the outside into cold winter or sultry humid summer nights. Weighing in at 4.5 pounds, holding the Astroluxe can cause some users to experience arm fatigue—especially during long observation sessions—so Nikon made them mountable on a wide variety of photo, video, or field tripods with the simple addition of an optional adapter for hands-free use to ensure vibration-free views and easier tracking of fast-moving subjects.

Optical Performance

High 18x power allows users to enjoy a magnified view without sacrificing field of view

Large 70mm objectives draw in the amount of light required to keep views bright and clear when using during nighttime astronomical observations

Traditional Porro prism design produces a comfortable-to-hold and natural hand placement for a balanced grip and presents a rich depth of field when viewing terrestrial objects

Fully multicoated optics, engineered specifically for nighttime use, maximize light transmission for improved colour rendition, contrast, and clarity

Wide 64.3° apparent angle of view makes the binoculars ideal for viewing the moon, constellations, satellites, and the International Space Station, and for comet/asteroid-hunting

210-foot field of view at 1000 yards

Use and Handling

Individually focusing eyepieces ensure tack-sharp views, regardless of individual optical prescription

56-72mm interpupillary distance adjustment range

Fold-down winged rubber eyecups mould themselves to the user's eye socket to eliminate distracting peripheral light for improved contrast and clarity

Tripod mountable with optional adapter for hands-free use eliminates vibrations and handshake and prevents arm fatigue from holding it

15.2mm eye relief improves viewing comfort with reduced eye strain, especially during long observation sessions

3.9mm exit pupil will cover pupils they open and dilate in the dark

Construction Details
