Celestron Nature DX 8x42 ED Roof Prism Binoculars

To address the particular demands of hunters, birders, and outdoor enthusiasts, Celestron upgraded their venerable series of binoculars with extra-low-dispersion (ED) glass in the 8x42 Nature DX ED Binoculars. They deliver bright high-contrast images with accurate true-to-life colour and crisp clarity, even when observing from long distances. To achieve this optical performance, these binoculars feature anti-reflection fully multi-coated extra-low-dispersion glass lenses with phase-corrected BAK4 roof prisms. A wide apparent angle of view presents an immersive observational experience to complement the impressive performance. The binoculars also allow you to take in sweeping vistas without having to move your head very much—making them ideal for everyone, from stalking hunters to sports fans watching a game on a large playing field. Additional features like a long eye relief and wide exit pupil improve viewing comfort while reducing eyestrain, so long glassing sessions are more pleasurable.

Designed to stand up to a lifetime of outdoor use, the binoculars' chassis is made of a lightweight and durable polycarbonate that is also corrosion resistant to make it ideal for boaters. The optical tubes are nitrogen-filled and O-ring sealed to make them waterproof and resistant to internal fogging when moving through extreme changes in temperature or environmental conditions. Celestron includes tethered front and rear lens caps to add an additional layer of protection in the field, with the ability to quickly react to glassing opportunities without fear of losing the caps. For those long days in your blind or in the field, the Nature DX ED binoculars can be tripod mounted using an optional adapter for vibration-free viewing.

Optical Performance

Moderate 8x power magnifies the view while preserving a wide exit pupil and long eye relief to make viewing easier and more comfortable

42mm objective lenses gather the light needed to ensure views remain bright and clear, even in challenging light conditions

Compact roof prism design provides a slim form factor without compromising performance

BAK4 prism glass delivers a round exit pupil and a crisp and clear image with limited edge distortion

Phase-corrected prism coatings reduce internal interference to improve contrast, clarity, and resolution

Extra-low dispersion (ED) glass lens elements reduce chromatic and spherical aberrations to produce views with true colour rendition without fringing, halos, or distortion across the entire field of view

Anti-reflection fully multi-coated lenses maximize light transmission for bright and clear images with accurate colour rendition

Short 6.5' close focus distance allows detailed inspections of hummingbirds, insects, flowers, and other flora & fauna

Wide 60° apparent angle of view helps to minimize the appearance of distracting handshake that is common when holding high-power optics

393-foot field of view at 1000 yards

Use and Handling

Closed bridge configuration offers a stable platform for the internal focusing mechanism

The large slip-resistant centre focus wheel is easy to manipulate in cold or wet conditions, or when wearing gloves

±3 right-eye diopter adjustment enables users to compensate for an optical prescription for sharper focusing

Wide 56 to 74mm interpupillary adjustment range allows easy use by a wide variety of people

Twist-up click-stop eyecups for comfortable use with or without eyewear

Tripod mountable with an optional adapter for hands-free use to eliminate vibrations and arm fatigue

Exceptional 17.8mm eye relief improves viewing comfort and reduces eyestrain during long glassing sessions

Wide 5.25mm exit pupil will completely cover pupils as they open and fully dilate in low light, ensuring the entire view remains visible

Construction Details

Light and durable polycarbonate chassis is resistant to the expansion and contraction that metal chassis are susceptible to and which can cause the optical components to move out of alignment over time, preventing the ability to achieve sharp focus

Exterior rubber armour with textured palm pads offers impact protection while providing a slip-resistant grip

Nitrogen filled and O-ring sealed to be waterproof and resistant to internal fogging when moving through extreme temperature and environmental conditions

Tethered flip-down objective lens caps and a one-piece ocular rainguard allow for fast reaction to glassing opportunities while keeping the caps out of the way and safe

Padded nylon canvas carrying case with a padded neck strap

Measuring 5.6 x 5", they will easily fit into most packs or cargo pockets
