Panasonic Leica DG Vario-Elmarit 8-18mm f/2.8-4.0 Lens

Panasonic Leica DG Vario-Elmarit 8-18mm f/2.8-4.0 Lens

The Panasonic Leica DG Vario-Elmarit 8-18mm f/2.8-4.0 is an ultra-wide zoom lens designed for cameras like the GH4, GH5 and GX8 as well as other micro four-thirds mirrorless cameras. The lens excels at capturing both photo and video imagery while at the same time boasts a rugged weather-sealed construction that provides peace of mind when shooting in less than ideal conditions.

Ultra-Wide 8-18mm Zoom

The lens has a focal length of 16-36mm (35mm equivalent) when mounted on a Micro Four Thirds camera. The exaggerated wide perspective allows you to get physically close to your subject without losing surrounding features in your composition. This makes the lens well suited for photojournalism and event photography as well as landscape and architectural work because of how much you can fit in your frame.

Fast f/2.8-4 Aperture

A fast aperture of f/2.8 at the wide end of the lens allows you to shoot with a fast shutter speed in poor light conditions, making it easier to handhold your shots. This maximum aperture also allows you to create a shallow depth of field shots perfect for isolating a subject for more effective visual storytelling.

Exceptional Leica Optics

With an optical construction that consists of 15 elements arranged in 10 groups, the lens offers excellent image resolving capabilities with controlled colour fringing. It uses one aspherical ED (Extra-Low Dispersion) element, three aspherical elements, two extra-low dispersion elements, and one ultra-high-refractive index (UHR) element that works together to deliver finely tuned image performance.

Nano Surface Coating

Further enhancing the lenses optical performance, each element has a Nano Surface Coating that minimises internal reflections, ghosting and reduces lens flares. This can be particularly useful when shooting in demanding lighting conditions or when shooting towards your light source.

Optimised for Video Recording

By using a micro-step drive system, the lens delivers smooth aperture changes to control sudden exposure changes ideal for video shooting, while an internal focus system ensures quiet operation for clearer audio capture when filming.

Ultra-Quick Autofocus

The lens has a high-performance auto-focus tracking system capable of keeping up with precision contrast autofocusing systems. This allows you to capture sharp in-focus results even when shooting at ultra-fast speeds.

67mm Filter Thread

Super-wide angles traditionally have large front elements that do not facilitate the use of lens filters. The 8-18mm has a 67mm thread which allows you to mount a wide range of filters for enhanced creativity. This is especially useful for landscape shooters to mount graduated filters and video shooters that use ND filters to create cinematic footage.

All-Metal Weather-Resistant Construction

A durable metal body gives the lens the ability to withstand harsh and rugged usage in the field. A splash, dust and freeze resistant design protect the lens from water splashes, dust, and extreme temperatures making it the perfect landscape and street photography lens.

Compact Form Factor

Despite a complex optical design, the H-E08018 Panasonic Leica Vario-Elmarit 8-18mm lens still manages to maintain a small size, making it ideal for micro four-thirds system cameras. The lightweight design of the lens suits travel, street and landscape photographers who need to travel light without compromising quality Most households have an unsolved Rubik's Cube. You can easily solve it by learning just a few algorithms.
