Product Description

The Sony Action Cam HDR-AS50 is the perfect accessory for the active weekend warrior. Its included housing is combined with an ultra-wide lens and true Full HD video, to create the ideal camera for surfing, snowboarding, SCUBA diving, mountain biking and other outdoor adventures.

11.1 Megapixel Stills and HD Video

The AS50 features an Exmor-R Image sensor which shoots 11.1 megapixel photos and Full High Definition videos to create stunning memories of your outdoor adventures.

Bionz X Image Processor

The Bionz X image processor supports high speed capture in Full High Definition quality, delivering a 60 frames per second framerate for smooth recording of fast action sequences. Alternatively, shooting at HD quality enables you to boost the video frame rate up to 120 frames per second, very useful for capturing minute details in extremely fast motion sequences. For when you truly want to freeze a moment in time, full resolution still images can be shot at 8 frames per second, ensuring uncompromised detail and faithful colour reproduction.

Zeiss Tessar Lens

The ultra-wide Zeiss Tessar lens produces sharp photos and clear videos. Its f/2.8 aperture allows the camera to gather more light for producing great looking visuals even when ambient light is low. The lens provides two focal lengths for a normal or ultra-wide field of view, equipping you with the versatility for casual video recording or fisheye style point-of-view footage.

Steady Shot

The built-in electronic Steady Shot image stabilization is very effective in compensating for vibrations and camera shake to deliver crisp and smooth video output. The impressive performance of the stabilization makes videos shot during harsh, vibration prone activities such as skiing, snowboarding and mountain biking more pleasant and enjoyable.

Intuitive Interface

The Sony HDR-AS50 has an improved button layout and interface to ensure shooting photos and starting and stopping recording is quick and easy. Bright Red LED indicators placed on 3 different sides of the camera body deliver a visual confirmation of the ongoing recording. The LEDs are also handy when shooting from a distance, allowing you to easily identify that camera is active and the unfolding action is being faithfully captured.

Manual Movie Control

Exposure settings can be manually adjusted to adapt different lighting conditions. Advanced settings allow you to select the White Balance and Brightness levels equipping you with ability to apply your creative skills with precise control.

Combine Multiple Images in One

The Motion LE feature can combine action sequences shot across multiple frames into a single image. The various stages of the movement can be recorded at designated intervals and the foreground of all these stages can be brought into one while keeping the background intact.

Stereo Microphone

The built in stereo microphone captures sound with good clarity to compliment the videos. Reduced noise levels ensure subtle environmental sounds are clearly audible, delivering a soundscape with a more natural feel.

Wi-Fi Connectivity

With built-in Wi-Fi the AS50 can be used in conjunction with your Smartphone or tablet and the Sony Action Cam app to control up to 5 different compatible Sony Action cameras. Operating the camera including switching it on or off and changing camera settings is easy with the help of a similar looking UI on both the remote and the camera. Multiple cameras synced from the time of recording help you achieve a faster and smoother workflow for editing andallowing you to create exciting video montages easily.

Underwater Housing Included

A waterproof housing is included with the Sony Action Cam AS50, equipping you with confidence to use the camera on rugged terrain and in water up to 60 metres. The freeze proof and shock resistant design of the housing protects the camera without compromising on the ease of use.
