This flash cord allows you to connect a flash unit off-camera as an external flash to the camera. That way you can mount the flash unit on a flash bracket or a tripod and illuminate the subject from another direction. The cord allows TTL metering. The camera calculates the appropriate exposure time and flash intensity. The flash end of the cord mounts on a hot shoe or a tripod. For the latter there is a 1/4'' tripod thread at the underside.
