Fujifilm X-E4 Black Body
Build Quality of the Fujifilm X-E4
True to the heritage of Fujifilm, the X-E range has long held appeal to those that appreciated rangefinder-style film cameras. The all-new Fujifilm X-E4 continues that tradition with a neat and stylish design more reminiscent of a retro shooter than the latest modern mirrorless. It is tiny for an interchangeable lens camera with some of the best Fujifilm techs on board. And, at just 364 grams, you'll hardly notice you're carrying it.
The Fujifilm X-E4 has a robust build with a single magnesium top plate. The top of the camera is minimal and aesthetically pleasing. It is home to a hot shoe and the control dials for Exposure Compensation and Shutter Speed. And despite its compact appearance, a folding LCD touch screen sits snug against the body. It folds 180 degrees up for vlogging or extreme angle shooting.
Image Quality
Fujifilm's respect comes from decades of experience with film and colour technology. Fortunately, that experience is evident with the Fujifilm X-E4 with no less than 18 film simulations. For optimal image quality, the X-E4 possesses the very latest in Fujifilm tech with the 26.1Mp X-Trans CMOS 4 image sensor and the X Processor 4 processing engine. It is the same internal marvels that power the Fujifilm X-T4.
Fuji has made significant advancements in autofocus performance, and the X-E4 is no slouch. With phase-detection autofocus point covering almost 100% of the sensor, your subjects will be sharp and clear. The X-E4 tracks moving subjects thanks to the advanced AF tracking algorithms and Face and Eye Detect modes.
Video Quality
More and more visual creatives are turning to video for content delivery. With the Fujifilm X-E4, there is no holding back thanks to its ability to oversamples 6k footage to 4K/30P 4:2:0 8-bit video to internal media. Or, if you want to boost your videography game, record 4K/30P 4:2:2 10-bit video via its HDMI port to an external source. Finally, shoot ultra-smooth slow motion in Full HD at 240fps.
Fujifilm XF27mmF2.8 R WR Lens
One of the most underrated of Fujifilm's magnificent lenses is probably its smallest. The original Fujifilm XF27mm F2.8 pancake lens has proven popular with Fuji Fanboys for its stellar optics and compact design. Fujifilm has now announced the launch of an updated version of the very same lens in the XF27mm F2.8 WR. While initial glances may deceive you into believing that it is the same lens, there are some key differences.
First and foremost, the XF27mm F2.8 WR is Weather Resistant and when paired with a WR Fuji body, provides a complete kit fit for any conditions. While the original version maintained a flat, pancake-like build, it did not possess an aperture ring. It was sorely missed as was a simple lens hood. The new version now includes both a lens hood and an aperture ring with markings between Auto, F2.8 and F16.
The lens construction is solid with seven internal elements in five groups, including one aspherical element. The 27mm focal distance converts to 41mm in 35mm full-frame equivalent. What is most notable about this tiny optical gem is that it has a diameter of 62mm and a depth of only 23mm. Plus, at 84 grams, you can drop this on the new Fujifilm X-E4 and still have a complete kit at under 500g!
