Canon EOS R1 Mirrorless Camera

Canon EOS R1 Mirrorless Camera Body Only

The EOS R1 is a mirrorless camera geared toward professionals that brings together Canon's cutting-edge technology and combines top-class performance with the strong durability and high reliability sought in a flagship model. This camera will dramatically improve the performance of both still images and video and meet the high requirements of professionals on the frontlines of a wide range of fields including sports, news reporting, and video production.

This camera employs the newly developed image processor DIGIC Accelerator in addition to the pre-existing processor DIGIC X. The new image processing system, composed of these processors and a new CMOS sensor, enables large volumes of data to be processed at high speeds and delivers never-before-seen advancements in Auto Focus (AF) and other functions.

By combining the new image processing system and deep learning technology to an advanced degree, Canon has achieved high-speed and high-accuracy subject recognition. For example, subject tracking accuracy has been improved so that in team sporting events where multiple subjects intersect, the target subject can continually be tracked even if another player passes directly in front of them. In addition, the AF "Action Priority" function recognizes subject movement by rapidly analysing the subject's status. In moments during a sports game when it is difficult to predict what will happen next, this function automatically determines the player performing a certain action, such as shooting a ball, as the main subject and instantly shifts the AF frame, thereby helping to capture decisive moments of gameplay.

The combination of the new image processing system and deep learning technology will help to improve image quality. Canon implements the image noise reduction function, which has been previously developed and improved as part of the software for PCs, as a camera function to further improve image quality and contribute to user creativity.

Flagship EOS R Series Camera

The EOS R1 is a full-frame mirrorless camera that epitomises Canon's cutting-edge technology, top-class performance, durability, and reliability. Designed for professionals, this flagship model is ideal for sports, news reporting, video production, and more, ensuring you stay ahead of the game.

Lightening Fast Readout Speeds

Featuring a new 24MP full-frame back-illuminated stacked CMOS sensor, the EOS R1 delivers faster readout speeds, significantly reducing rolling shutter distortion. These readout speeds are equivalent to the mechanical shutter of the EOS-1D X Mark III.

Next Generation Autofocus

The EOS R1 allows you to track moving subjects with unparalleled precision and ease. Utilising deep learning algorithms, this camera enhances subject tracking for a range of scenarios. The Register People Priority mode ensures that your primary subject remains the focus of attention.

Supercharged AF Accuracy

For the first time in an EOS R series body, cross-type AF is included, accurately capturing subject patterns to increase autofocus accuracy. This feature is particularly useful in situations where subjects have many horizontal lines, small sizes, or low contrast.

More Resolution on Hand When Needed

The EOS R1 offers in-camera upscaling after shooting from JPEG or HEIF files, delivering images up to 96MP. This can be combined with in-camera cropping to produce higher resolution cropped images, alongside in-camera Neural Network Noise Reduction for images with less noise.

Capture What May Have Been Missed

With pre-continuous shooting of still or video, the EOS R1 allows you to capture the decisive moment in sharp focus even before you've pressed the button, ensuring you never miss a critical shot.

Eye Control AF

The EOS R1 features sensors in the electronic viewfinder that track the movement of the photographer's eye, enabling quick and seamless subject tracking. This allows users to swiftly change the focus to a different subject with ease.

Explosive Continuous Shooting Speeds

Experience continuous RAW bursts at up to 40 frames per second with AF/AE tracking between each frame, allowing you to capture fast-paced action with precision and clarity.

Canon Log 2 & Canon Log 3

The inclusion of Canon Log 2 and Canon Log 3 ensures a wide dynamic range. Canon Log 2 enables shooting with a dynamic range of up to 16 stops, offering greater flexibility in post-production.

4K 120p Recording

The EOS R1 supports up to Full HD 240P and 4K 120P recording, making it ideal for capturing scenes with fast movement, such as sports and concerts, with remarkable detail and clarity.

RF Lenses for Greater Possibilities

RF lenses enable richly expressive, high-quality imaging. The high-speed communication capabilities of the RF mount make operation intuitive and stress-free, enhancing the overall shooting experience.

Neural Network Noise Reduction

The EOS R1 applies deep learning to generate images with reduced noise when processing RAW images in-camera, eliminating the need for external computer or software. This feature can be combined with in-camera image upscaling to produce images with less noise and higher resolution.

In-Body Image Stabilisation

The Co-ordinated Control Image Stabilisation in the EOS R1 is now improved to 8.5 stops at the centre and 7.5 stops at the periphery, providing exceptional stability for handheld shooting.
